softip. I dont think all the centers have that yet.

i was told that my N24C is soft tipped,,,, it seems that the N24C were

renamed. I might be wrong.

I have bilateral CI. both are N24C. Usually for the most part it would be the

same system as the original CI with a few exceptions that I can think of. if one

had the N22 in one and went bilateral today that person now would get the N24C

in the other ear. Another example I can think of is if the person had the N24 in

one ear (that is the straight array) and was to be implanted today , he/she

would get the N24C. I hope that make sense to you wendy. Just want to make a

HI

I received my N22 in 1996.At the time that I was going to be sequentially

implanted the N24 was then being implanted. My surgeon would not implant the N24

because it had a straight electrode array like my N22.I would have had to have a

large # of electrodes deactivated with it like i did with my N22.The N24C with

the self-curling electrode array was about to be approved by the FDA so my

surgeon wanted to wait for that.I am glad we waited as only 4 electrodes

compared to 12 with my n22 were deactivated.
