Guest guest
Hey Jocelyn, 11 lbs, CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! I am so glad you are doing so well. Regarding the hiccups. I didn't have a problem with it, but I was wondering if you might be getting too much air swallowed when you are drinking/eating. Why don't you try and use a straw when you drink. Maybe slow down a bit. I hope others on the site have more insight for you. I do burp more when I drink fast. I wonder if that could be the same reason you have the hiccups? It was great to hear from you! Take Care, Hiccups! Hi everyone. I was just banded by Dr. Aceves on 11.18.05 and just finished my first week of liquids. Everything has been great so far. Down 11lbs so I'm psyched. Often after I drink something or eat I get the hiccups. Is this common and will it go away. Anyway, just thought someone could shed some light! Thanks!Jocelyn
Guest guest
Wow Jocelyn that is great 11lbs, I weighed last night and I am 13 lbs. I really cant shed any light on your hiccups but I will say I sort of had that problem along with not being able to belch. Great job! Barb W. Guest guest
Jocelyn Congrats on your initial weight loss! I'm sure there will be more. Yes I had hiccups too. They really didn't bother me too much but I did have trouble drinking even with a straw! It seemed like things went down better once the hiccups started so who knows! I don't have them so much any more unless something thinks it wants to get stuck and then goes down. Good luck on your journey. I hit a little glitch over Thanksgiving and gained a couple pouunds! I guess this meaans I need a fill. I did lose one of the pounds when I got home and got back in the groove so hopefully I will start going down again. Too much snacky food to tempt me and unfortunately snack stuff goes down way too easy! Guest guest
So Penny, you have noticed that junk food goes down easier than food that is good for you. For me I have a hard time with fruit, salad, and meat, but chips, crackers, and chocolate have no problem going down. Deborah F. > > Jocelyn > Congrats on your initial weight loss! Guest guest
Deborah The first number 230 was what I weighed at my yearly check up on Aug. 1 (my highest weight). 119.5 is what I weighed just before going into surgery at the hospital Sept. 26 (after the liver shrinking diet). 205 is what I weigh now and my goal is 135 which is what I weighed when I got married. I know I also need a fill because I can eat about anything with few problems and I am not feeling that full either! I found a really reasonable Fill Dr. in sbluff Nebraska which is only a few miles from my son's farm. I can go down and visit him and get my fill for $135 first time and $55 after that. I think that's pretty good. Penny DOB 9/26/05 230/119.5/205/135 5'4 " __________________________________ - PC Magazine Editors' Choice 2005 http://mail. Guest guest
Deborah yep, same story for me! Fruit, salad, scrambled eggs (for some crazy reason), sometimes even really cold drinks give me problems too. But that junk food just goes great! Guest guest
Deborah, did I say I weighed 119.5 after the liver shrinking? In my dreams!!! It was 219.5. I don't think I ever weighed that little since I left grade school! Penny __________________________________ Music Unlimited Access over 1 million songs. Guest guest
Wonderful question... I am scheduled for 12/12. I get the hiccups a lot - now. Seems like everytime I get out of bed, up from a chair, sometimes no reason at all - I get the hiccups. Some days I will get them 6-10 times per day for days on end. Then I might go for a period being like a normal person and only get them on rare occasion. I've wondered often if they would effect my band anything like vomiting? I had a Doc tell me they are caused by a spasm of a (Nerve or Muscle - don't remember) along the esophagus. I know this doesn't help you, but I have the same question, and haven't seen any posts here or any of the other forums that I go to. > > Hi everyone. Guest guest
Thanks for the info. It's gotten better although I still get them periodically. Weight loss has been great. I've decided to stop weighing myself everyday because then I think I expect to much. Guest guest
I had them a lot at first too, but now only get them occasionally. There is a method of putting your left thumbnail across the ridge above the opening of your ear canal...yep, stick yer thumb in your ear, press gently. While doing this, tip your chin to your chest and take a couple sips of water thru a straw. Honest, it WORKS! It is due to an accupressure point in the ear. It will make the hiccups go away for a while at least!BIG HUGS, AND GOD'S BLESSINGSDawnita MayLowpass, Oregon10/05/05 dob "Iraida" 209/190/135 5ft 3inches"before" photos at: http://dawnita1961.myphotoalbum.com/
Guest guest
Wow Penny, $55 is a really good price, I paid $250 for the first fill and it is going to cost me $150 for the fills after that. But I guess that is not that bad of a price either because I have heard of a lot worse. Guest guest
Panny, that explains a lot. I think you have been putting 119.5 and I was just confused because I was thinking maybe 119.5 was your goal or 135. Deborah F. > > Deborah, did I say I weighed 119.5 after the liver > shrinking? Guest guest
Penny, Don't you mean 219.5? How did you lose 110.5 pounds on the liver shrinking diet??? Just curious. Guest guest
No worries Penny, we all want to be 119.5..lol...I am also in Colorado Srings, nice to meet another bandster. I had surgery on October 27th, 5 weeks now, and I have lost 16 pounds. It doesn't seem like much but I am pretty happy with it so far. I am getting my first fill next week in Denver. Hopefully that will get the ball rolling. I have started back with my personal trainer. Went mon, wed, and thurs and made an appointment to go again on sat. Going dancing tonight with my friends, it is amazing how much more confidence I have even with 16 pounds. Good luck to us all!!! Stay in touch! Stacey Re: Re: Hiccups! Yes, I did mean 219.5! Guest guest
Hi Wow! You are really getting into the exercise! Isn't it great that we feel so much better even after only 16 lb. weight loss? I have so much more energy and my knees and back don't hurt any more. Today we got 2 feet of wet heavy snow and of course our snowmobiles were getting stuck everytime we tried to go anywhere. I was able to walk in over knee deep snow without getting completely exhausted (is this a NSV???). Anyway it sounds like you are really enjoying your new found " you " ! I am getting my first fill next Friday in sbluff. My son lives near there and it will be good to have a chance to see my grand sons and their mom and dad. I hope we arn't snowed in! Good luck with your fill--what Dr. are you going to in Denver? Guest guest
Hi Penny, I am having my fill by Dr. Kirschenbaum in Denver. It seems to be the best option for me now. Guest guest
Hi and everyone! I think we are supposed to go on liquids for the day but I'm not sure. Maybe someone can tell us both! I know we are supposed to be on liquids for 1 or 2 days after ( or 3 weeks if you go to 's fill Dr.--LOL). It makes sense that our pouch should be empty for the fill. Is your fill in the afternoon? Mine is. How long did it take for you to get an appointment? I think my daughter is going to have to go to Aurora because Dr. Holloway is booked up until after Christmas. Guest guest
, it is best not to eat prior to your fill, I believe you want to have the pouch empty when they fill the band, and of course then you go on liquids for a couple of days after the fill. Guest guest
Hi Penny, So I had my fill today. Dr. Kirschenbaum was a really nice man. I didn't feel a thing! He wasn't very familiar with my band because I have the Swedish Adjustable Band, but my surgeon sent him a recommendation as to how much he should fill. All went well. I was out of there in 20 minutes. I definantly know that I will go back to him for the rest of my after care. I have a total of 5 cc's in a 10 cc band. My surgeon put 2 cc's in at surgery, he added 3 more. I thought I would feel at least a little different, but as of yet I really don't. I can still drink water pretty much the same. But I hear from all the other bandsters that it has taken as much as a week before you might feel it. Will wait until I can actually eat something solid and then see how it feels. I am a little scared of not feeling the sensation. My brain is always hungry, or bored!..lol...Take care. Definantly check out Dr. Kirschenbaum. I was very pleased with my visit. Guest guest
Thanks for all the info on Dr. Kirshenbaum. How did you know when you had enough fill? Your band is bigger than mine but still 3 cc sounds like a lot! Good luck when you start solids. Go slowly at first! I'll let you know how my fill goes in sbluff. That is if we ever get out of here! The wind blew at around 65 mph or more up here and the county didn't open our road today. I hope this wind quits ASAP. It really is getting old. Well, enough complaining about the weather. Be careful and take care of your band. Penny __________________________________________ DSL – Something to write home about. Just $16.99/mo. or less. dsl. Guest guest
I was told by NINA just to have water. I drank a protien drink in the AM, because I didn't want to be starving after my fill. But they need the stomach to be empty to see the floro? and how fast the liquid flows through the opening. But check with your doctor. Best of health to you.
