You are certainly right about doctors not knowing much beyond their

specialty. I just finished a month rotation at a local teaching hospital

that is very well respected in this area, and I was frankly stunned by how

little many of the doctors knew, especially the new residents. They are not

very knowledable in the pharmacology of medications, and we were constantly

contacting them to get them to make adjustments in the patients' meds.

As you probably know, coumadin and aspirin " thin " the blood, making it clot

less easily and this thinning lowers BP and apparently, helps with a-fib and

such. I'm glad to hear they are working for you. It is true that a lot of

the heart meds have unpleasant side effects.

Hopefully, you'll get your answers from RR soon. When you do, it would be

great if you could share with the rest of the group. Again, the very best

of luck to you!!

Subject: a-fib

Before my husband died, he had two episodes of Atrial Fibrillation at

the Hospital. They gave him IV Cardizem, so I think and as soon as the

injection went into the IV it stopped. Then they put him on Coumadin

and he came home on the Coumadin.

The insurance company informed me that they are going to pay my

husband's policy finally. The mortgage company got paid and his will

was read he put in trust a policy for the kids for their education that

they can get when enrolled in college. He did all of this without me

knowing, his cousin is an Attorney and she told me about his

will, I said what will. He took it out in 1997.

We are going to have a family get together this weekend and watch our

wedding video and home videos. I have been to grief counseling and am

doing much better. Thanks again to everyone for their kind words and

support

Robyn,

I am so happy that you are going to grief counseling and that all the

insurance stuff worked out for you. I know you miss Joe deeply; he was

a fine man and always looked out for you and the children. This

weekend will be both a happy and sad time for you, but it is something

you need to do. God bless you,

In VA
