10 WAYS TO KNOW IF YOU HAVE PMS 1. Everyone around you has an attitude problem. 2. You're adding chocolate chips to your cheese omelet. 3. The dryer has shrunk every last pair of your jeans. 4. Your husband is suddenly agreeing to everything you say. 5. You're using your cellular phone to dial up every bumper sticker that says, "How's my driving -- call 1-800-***-****." 6. Everyone's head looks like an invitation to batting practice. 7. You're convinced there's a God and he's male. 8. You're counting down the days until menopause. 9. You're sure that everyone is scheming to drive you crazy. 10. The ibuprofen bottle is empty and you bought it yesterday. And if you don't suffer from any of the above, you've lost the crib or = you're in Ripleys Believe It Or Not. And the rest of us women think.......= ...NOT !!!

Does anyone have any advice for PMS? I'm so tired and

crabby know one wants to be around me and I'm ready to

kill anyone that gets in my way! Not literally.

Thanks,

I have to agree with Kathy. About 2 weeks before my period, I try to cut out as

much processed food as I can and eat lots of veggies and fish (especially the

fish with the omega fatty acids). And I'm sure I'm not the only one here that

will say cutting back on caffeine and sugar helps tremendously! I love coffee

so much that I've found I can't cut it out completely but if I stick to one

small cup in the morning, that's usually enough of a cut-back to make my PMS

symptoms less horrendous.

Also, exercising gets rid of a lot of my " PMS anger " .

Well, I'm sure you've heard all these tips before. Someone mentioned vitamins,

I think that's important as well.

Good luck!

Some people say evening primrose oil helps, and upping your calcium to

1,000-1500mg helps also.

I take a PMS herbal tincture a few weeks before I start. Has chaste

berry, wild yam and dong quai as main ingredients. ;)

Love and take care,

,

After trying many, many products the only thing I have found that has

really worked is Newbust. It is a hormone balancing formula and you

can read all about it at http://www.newbust.com/ . This product will

work for PMS, but not for PMDD. Are you sure you don't have PMDD?

If you had real food allergies, you would go anaphylactic and have breathing

problems, need hospitalization, etc. What you have sounds like food

intolerance. What that is is when you eat something, like corn, which your

body is intolerant of. your body reacts by surrounding the offending

molecule with water, hence the bloat. I can eat three or four bites of corn,

and feel so bloated that I feel like I ate a whole meal. (and my stomach

pooches out making me look pregnant!) For me this is caused by the candidia,

and or leaky gut, which is also caused by the candida. Also I am a blood type

O and most of my candida trigger foods are on my avoid list. the best thing

to do is avoid the trigger foods, which for corn means anything processed.

(they put corn syrup in everything).

As far as the pulse thing goes, I notice that the swelling makes my pulse go

up, since I am having such a hard time fitting in my clothes and breathing.

(I swell a lot) If your breathing speeds up, your voice all of a sudden goes

hoarse or you have difficulty breathing after you put on looser clothes, then

you need to worry! If not, then it is just your body trying to fight the

offending food and in a few hours you will feel better!

Hanida and Ali,

Thanks for sharing the fatigue before the period info: I was completely

fatigued and wiped out last month and didn't know why (thought it was a

relapse). So, more iron (chicken liver pate? spinach? what other foods are

rich in iron?). Can we take an iron supplement? Why an algae like spirulina?

And Hanida, how do you know when you have food allergies? I have noticed

after I eat corn (tortillas or popcorn) that my stomach gets bloated. My dr.

mentioned measuring your pulse to see if it increases after I eat something

(15 sec x 4) after the first half hour and I think he said then again an

hour after? But I always forget to do this.

And can we have bittersweet chocolate made with the main ingredient malitol?

I've eaten some, it's really good. Haven't noticed any reactions. Only cocoa

powder, almonds, which I can have, lecithin, no milk.

Thanks.

Hi ,

The only really good source of haem iron is red meat. I don't eat red meat,

though maybe I should have a little when it's heading towards that time of

the month...

>Can we take an iron supplement? Why an algae like spirulina?

If you can find an iron supplement that's dairy, wheat, gluten and yeast

free, yes you can. However, some kinds of iron supplement can make you

constipated, so check with a professional. Also, taking vitamin C helps

iron to absorb. ALWAYS check into it before supplementing with an

individual vitamin or mineral - in most cases, it's best to supplement with

an all-round multivitamin and multimineral, and then add whatever you need

to that basic program.

I take spirulina because it's a whole-food supplement that is rich in the B

vitamins. The brand I take is organic, and easily absorbed as well. It

contains all the vitamins and minerals except vitamin C, and is rich in

proteins. I take it in place of a multivitamin.

>And Hanida, how do you know when you have food allergies? I have noticed

>after I eat corn (tortillas or popcorn) that my stomach gets bloated.

I get reactions after corn too. Corn chips inflame my intestines, and

eating cooked corn in a meal makes me bloat really huge! So I don't eat it

anymore.

As I was researching endometriosis last year, the

overriding message that came across to me was that

painful periods are NOT normal!

And yet they are treated as such by the medical

profession. Doctors never try to find the root cause

of PMS - they just prescribe the pill (even to 12-13

year olds!!!!) or pain killers and let us get on with

it! So because doctors just fob us off, they don't

even ask about other health problems. What's more,

conventional medicine doesn't analyse the body

holistically - they would probably come to the

conclusion that the constipation was a totally

separate issue from the PMS/pains, and any other

bodily aches, pains, distress would also be unrelated.

Something I have learnt from receiving homeopathic

treatment (and I suspect this is true for a lot of

other alternative therapies) is that most of these

things truly are connected!

PMS - Natural Ways to Soothe ItAdapted from Natural Medicine, Optimal Wellness, Many of us dread "that time of the month"--and so do our significant others! If you suffer from PMS, know that there are a few simple things you can do to alleviate the mood swings and irritability, the bloating and discomfort--physical and emotional--that come along with it. Get expert advice, here: While nobody knows for sure what causes PMS, one theory is that PMS is exacerbated by allergies. One thing we do know for sure: the following suggestions have been shown to give significant relief to those who have tried them. 1. Avoid refined sugar, caffeine, alcohol, and excessive salt intake. 2. You may also want to try eliminating dairy for a few cycles to see if it helps. 3. Try aerobic exercise. Women who tried

running 1.5 miles per day 5 days a week showed significant improvement in their premenstrual symptoms. 4. Try upping your intake of the following: Vitamin B6MagnesiumCalciumVitamin EEssential Fatty Acids (flaxseed oil is a good source) Suzi What is a weed? Nevermind! I hate him again! I am soooo irritable and frustrated

that I almost cried today. BUT! This time it definately snuck up on

me, and I wasn't as intense as I usually am at this time. I used to

take wild yam progesterone cream for PMS because I thought I was

estrogen dominant. What do you think of that stuff, Bee? It

definately worked, but it was just a band aid for the real reason why

I had so much estrogen - too much crap in the food I ate, esp. soy!

> Can I post this message

> in our Sucess Stories Folder???

How about when I feel like I'm truly successful, I'll write up a story

about me!

And I'd be happy to search the messages for the recommended brands of

stuff - maybe I'll take on " skin care " since I'm all about that right

now. If everyone volunteers to do just one topic, it won't take long

to get a great reference file going! Look how much work Bee does for

all of us!

Did I read somewhere about OCD and candida overgrowth? I had some OCD

tendencies as a child, and they seem to be back. Weird.

I've had some really bad periods myself. Actually not

cramp wise or anything else physical. The periods

I've had on this diet have been very mild with

physical symptoms. But I have gotten VERY emotional.

I think it's because we often lose weight on this

diet, since so many of us are overweight, and we

release hormones from our fat that affect our

emotions. But once our weight normalizes so will the

emotional stuff.

> Did I read somewhere about OCD and candida

> Weird.

I have had nothing but improvement in my health in

every area except this one. My OCD is worse than

ever. I am not healed yet so I hope that when I do

get there it will make a difference.

I have tried most of the suggestions in the anxiety

folder and they haven't worked. I personally think

it's more psychological than anything.

OUr ancestors wouldn't have had near the stress levels

that we impose on ourselves in this modern culture.

As a working/schooling mother of a toddler, I

definitely feel the impact on my health with my

lifestyle.

I look forward to the time where my toddler gets a

little older and more independent and school is

finished (about a year and a half probably for both).

Most of the time my job is not very high stress, but

it has occassional moments, but I can handle that. In

the meantime I see a therapist and exercise to deal

with life stresses.
