Guest guest
Hello everyone. I've got a question for those that are or have been pregnant since having the MGB. The first year out I lost 140 lbs. I found out I was pregnant at my year out mark and lost another 15 lbs. I'm 5 1/2 months pregnant and I have gained those 15 lbs back. I'm very excited about that actually because with my other pregnancies I gained 15 lbs in like the first 2 months! Anyway, I am hungry all the time. I have cravings all the time (like for chocolate, dairy, bread) and good cravings too like for fruit and veggies. It seems like I can eat so much at a sitting (and I'm not stretching the time out either) and I'm hungry again not long after. Did anyone else experience this? I still try to make wise choices and get the protein in and so forth, but I do give in to my cravings. The pregnancy is going along great. It's so neat to actually look pregnant and not just fat. I actually have a round little ball of a belly. This will be my fourth and last child, so I'm enjoying every minute that I can. Thanks for listening. Guest guest
Congrats , Cravings during pregnancy can indicate an iron deficiency. Since we are subject to possible iron deficiency because of our surgery, and pregnancy can cause it, you may really be hit super hard with it. Take to your OB about this possibility Hugs, LyndaV 91/05/2001 298/168 Never Compare yourself to others... .......they are more screwed up than you think. Lynda Vance p8nlady@... Guest guest
, I was so glad to see your post! I am now exactly 4 months pregnant and feel like I eat all day long. I can't eat any more in one sitting than I could when I wasn't pregnant and post mgb but I do eat every 2 hours without fail. I eat about 1 cup of food in one sitting. I crave lots of carbs, cheese, steak, pizza, oatmeal cream pies, chocolate (bad-I know) and some veggies, fruits and especially fruit juices. I am also craving milk with cereal and ice cream like mad!!!! And those 2 things make me dump horrendously!!!! It is tough at times because I do crave sugar a lot and I know that isn't good for the baby. I have gained 10 lbs. and am struggling mentally but I know it is not about me right now. I started out at 127 lbs. (gained 3 around Thanksgiving & Christmas so up from 124) and now weigh 137. It does feel good to be smaller and be pregnant this time around. I bought maternity clothes today and it was so much fun. My mother and I laughed and laughed when I tried on the fake pregnant belly. So how has your bloodwork been? My hemoglobin was excellent this week adn we will do an ultrasound in 4 weeks. My doctor will then perform an ultrasound every month thereafter to make sure the growth is on target. The main struggle I am having is getting in enough fluid. I have never been able to eat and drink at the same time and since I am eating so much, I am rarely drinking. I am probably only getting in 30-40 oz. a day. Do you have any suggestions? Please keep in touch. I would love to hear about your appts. What are you having? I wish you the best of luck and a happy, healthy baby! Sincerely, Alisha Ackerman
Guest guest
Hi ! I am expecting again as well. I'm 21 weeks (halfway!) and feel like I eat all the time like Alisha. I am pretty much in the same boat. I eat about every 2 hours and have lots of cravings that vary from day to day. I have been eating a lot of cereal and milk. It made me so nauseated earlier, but has gotten better with time. I'm craving spicy things right now. My husband thinks that it's funny that I'm eating Andy Capp's Hot Fries. I've craved lots of fruits and veggies and red meat. I've been devouring asparagus lately. I also crave salty things. I don't drink enough and I can really tell when I haven't had enough. I get tired much easier and can be dizzy as well. I've had to force myself to constantly carry around a water bottle or bottle of Gatorade. I've been drinking lots of fruit juice as well. All my labs have been great and I had my 20 week ultrasound last week. The baby's growth is right on schedule and everything looked great! My due date is August 20th. We are having another boy, my third boy. Congrats! and keep me posted! Hugs! Angie in SC Re: pregnancy and eating > , I was so glad to see your post!
