Guest guest
Beth, you need more calories... 2 suggestions; First get some clear liquid protein at your health food store (like GNC) this will help a bit with the hunger and will add more calories to your diet. Isopure or the one you mix into your food or drinks works just fine. Do not buy a lot since next week you will be able to have the other kind of protein (shakes) which are better tasting for most people. You can also have some juice, like apple, grape, gatorade, etc do not worry about it being " light " you do need more calories, this will help with the lightheadedness. Guest guest
I don't really know, just sticking to jello, and broth. I guess not very much. > > > > how much protein are you taking in > > In a message dated 7/10/2006 4:47:28 PM Eastern Standard Time, > bdeubelragan@... writes: > > > > > I was banded on 7/3/06 and have been on the clear liquid diet since. Guest guest
Beth I felt a little the same way for a day but then I got to drinking the Protein drink ISOPURE. Mango-Peach was my favorite and still is. 40 grams of protein and my light-headedness went away and I felt much better. I still drink that protein drink when I am on the run. You can get it at any GNC store. Eileen > > I was banded on 7/3/06 and have been on the clear liquid diet since. Guest guest
Beth, I don’t know how long you have been on the list, and/or maybe you missed where you are supposed to be getting in some clear liquid protein drinks. (isopure-get some at GNC I think) Try for at least 80 grams of protein. You will feel much better when you get more calories and protein in until you are 2 weeks post op then you can have milk based protein drinks. Take it easy, this is the toughest part! You can do it! Guest guest
Hi Beth - I was banded 7/7/06 - I'm not hungry, but I have HORRIBLE cravings. I'm even craving foods like pancakes (which I haven't eaten in probably 2 years!!!). I know, it's all in my head. I know this probably doesn't help much, but I thought I'd share that I can relate. Guest guest
One of the websites I visited stated that the doc advised them to take a low dosage “appetite suppressant pill’ (which seems to help on the head cravings). I haven’t tried it yet but I will when they get too great to ignore. It cant hurt you can it????....not really sure but wouldn’t think it would….One of the things I wasn’t aware of when I was banded was the “””mental””””side of it. I thought I was prepared for it but I wasn’t….I do think it should be addressed more often but then maybe not. Who knows I may not have been banded because I may have felt inadequate to deal with the mental part of it. I know everyone’s life is different therefore the “head cravings” are different . I do NOT regret being banded. Dob04/13/06 226/203/?? Fill 1cc 6/5/06 Re: Post Banding Hi Beth - I was banded 7/7/06 - I'm not hungry, but I have HORRIBLE cravings. Guest guest
I was feeling the same way the first week. I thought to myself what did I do. I was almost regreting it, especially when it came to our family weekend routine. Going out to dinner and the show with the family. That has completely changed for us for now. I know in time I will be able to go to a restaurant and order small portions. But I had to really change my mind of thinking. Was I happy going to restaurants and being fat or am I happier eating my broth and loosing inches and weight. I think I'm happier now. I'm not as edgy with my family and I seem to have more energy. Believe me the first week of mine was hell, but I'm going on my third week and it has gotten alot better for me. You are right about no one mentioning how difficult this can be. But I think it was our job to do more research into it and the Dr.'s and coordinators speak to you one more time before the surgery to make sure that this is what you want. I have no regrets either, I just think we need to change ourselves mentally to be able to handle this change in our lives. We can do this. Guest guest
Hi , Funny that you have mentioned this subject because I went to get my 2nd fill yesterday by a Doctor in Ventura, CA whom is really great and treats me like one of his own "actual surgery patients". He had a talk with me at my 1st fill and he talked to me again at my 2nd fill regarding how bad do I want this weight loss. It is a very "mental and emotional" issue for me. I think I am fat for certain reasons and sometimes I will purposely sabotage my weightloss because of it. Stupid as it may sound but I did it last week! I ate cake...Try about 4 pieces!! So in the long run I had gained 5 pounds back and had to lose that 5 pounds again. Was it worth it?? No! I have a friend who was just banded in the states about a month ago and she had to go through some serious counseling before she was able to have the surgery. It was like a 9 month long process. We all need to get to the root of why we are fat to begin with. Yes, I think genetics have a small place in there but I think that it goes much deeper than that. I am losing weight at a very slow pace!! I talked to him about that also and he said that if I was to lose 6 pounds a month thats 72 pounds a year and thats great!! I was starting to beat myself up a little because some people on here are losing weight so fast and I am not. Gets you a little depressed. So my discussion with him really helped me stay focused. An appetite suppresant probably isnt a bad thing. I used to take all kinds of different diet pills but obviously they didnt work in the long run. I have tried them all! LOL What appetite suppresent are you talking about?? This Doctor also wants me keeping a food journal of Everthing I put into my mouth including liquids. He wants me to eat 1200 calories a day and atleast 60 grams of protein a day which I know I am not getting in.He also said I am not allowed to snack!! OUCH!! 3 meals a day and that is it!!! Thats a tough one!! Okay....Sorry I started rambling on and on here!! Take Care, Tammy I. DOB 4/20/06 248/228/130?? 1st fill 1cc 2nd fill total is 2cc's Messenger with Voice.
