Hi Cami,

Well, plateaus can be frustrating. Take a break from the scales for awhile.

Your body needs to adjust. Go have some fun, get a massage, go out dancing

Whatever it takes to take your mind off this for awhile.

-- Not losing

Well, I'm getting scared that I'm done losing. It's been about a month and

I'm going back and forth two pounds but I'm not going down. I have lost

90-92 pounds but I still have 22-24 more to go. I'm just scared that it's

over. My husband doesn't understand why I " m scared but I knew everyone here

would. Thanks for letting me vent.

your body is resting.... give it lots of protein and some fruit and

veggies.... take the citrucel... and the vits... dont eat carbs until

after the protein fruits and veggies.... be aware of " quality "

foods.... no junk... drink V8 for snacks.... this is a good time of

year for soups .... just relax and keep going. you have done

wonderfully in your loss. if you need to " diet off " 20.... i KNOW it

will be much easier with the MGB tummy than that big ol tummy we

used to have!

let your body adjust... i had a plateau that lasted 7 weeks once!!! i

went on to (slowly) lose 35 more pounds! so it may not be over after

all!

good luck!

You might not be eating enough. I would always lose again when I added some

really fattening foods back in. I know that sounds weird but sometimes you have

to shock your system. I would add in things high in fat and protein like

maybe lasagna or pizza or an enchilada. Just a hint. This is what worked for me.

Are you working out? I worked out consistently from day one and still do. Good

luck, Alisha

Dear Gloria, I will be banded on April 19th so I don't have any post

op advice. But try and remember why you had the surgery to begin

with. Was it for health reasons? Or maybe you were just sick and

tired of being sick and tired, like me. It's got to be so hard to

change a lifetime of bad eating habits. By the way, save this post

because I may be writing you 2 months from now! I say take it one

day at a time, one meal at a time, and try and find time for

yourself. It sounds like you are under alot of stress. And why do

some of us eat? Because of too much stress. I'm going to learn to

crochet because I like to eat at night. You could walk the

neighborhood now that we've had the time change, anything to not eat

as much and get moving. And most of all, work the band. Ginger

Gloria,

I hear ya! I'd like to hear some suggestions, too!

Anyway, My hope is that when I get my 3rd fill, April

21, it will remind me when I eat too fast or too much!

I have really kicked up the exercise this past week

but no weight loss. Maybe we are just too impatient

and should put our scales away for several weeks!

Just concentrate on eating a well balanced meal, one

at a time. Also, my fill Dr. told me not to eat if I

am not hungry. That might mean waiting until

afternoon. Sometimes I try to eat just to be sociable

and almost each time I end up regretting it. Well,

good luck and be patient.

Thanks, , for the reminder! My husband also says

I keep looking thinner so I guess the measurements do

help!

How are you doing? Did I remember right that you have

reached your goal weight? If so do you have any

trouble maintaining it? Did you get an unfill? Hope

I remembered correctly!

, sometimes lose a bit when on liquids - but most don't . It's

normal to regain then, if our calories were inadequate.

If you're onloy 2 months out, you can;t have gotten to a good fill yet.

It takes 3-5 monthly fills, on average, to get to a good level.

In the meantime, work on choosing better foods, getting good daily

exercise, adequate fluids, forget the junk and sweets except for

planned small treats,

Ther is a Band Guide in the files here called " BandEating Rules " that

covers all the basic band rules, needed nutrition, food choices, and

more. it might help you learn more about what is needed.

Do you need help with food plans?

Welcome! Glad you're here!

You have just been banded so give yourself a chance to get a good

fill level and continue eating well and exercising..you're on the

right track. I'm having hormonal issues too and if you're near

menopause you might want to check out hotflash These

women are not banded but there are many there who complain of gaining

weight during this time of their life. Unfortunately they don't have

the benefit of the band for a tool to help curb appetite and portion

control. The older we get hormonal factors may play a part however

my goal wasn't to just loose weight but to regain my health. Eating

good bandster foods and exercise contributes a great deal to getting

our health back and starting to feel better. Hang in there.

Hi, Lidia, the Band Food Guide has been both here and in the Kuri

files for several years. Look for the document called " Band Eating

Rules..

Dr Kuri approved it's use long agai, and it is available to everyone -

theya re supposed to be telling people about it!

If you have any questions, please ask.

RE " Food Plans " , when we know from the Band Guide wehat nutrient we

need - and I taught these all the time on the Kuri site - we then

need to make up food plans for ourselves to meet those needs, using

the foods we like and like to cook.

The Plansd I made up for myself ar also posted both here and in the

Kuri files - " SAndy's Food plans. "

If you need specific help, let me know.

Sandy,

for some reason the files " dissapeared " from Kuri site. There is no Band

Rules, band Food suggestion, etc like it was a year ago.

Good thing that had the files and I was able to read them and

copied them.

Got to stick in the frig and remember every day.

Thanks

Hi Shirley, It happened to me too, don't worry you'll start losing again. The best way to jump start yourself is to do the apple day like suggested in KT's book. I don't have the book infront of me, but basically eat small 5 organic apples all day and drink very little do this all day. You're only going to eat apples no lunch or dinner. Take a look at the book for more detail. Don't do this on the day you're off your injection cause you might get hungry and the apples won't be enough. You'll find you'll get a big drop the next day or two after. Then go back to 500 cal hcg diet. Good luck although you don't need it! Cause it works!!! Have an awesome day! Sharon

Thanks Sharon. Yes, I just read the apple day in Dr. Simeon's protocol pages. I will try that, as I really was beginning to this this stubborn fat could not even be dissolved with hCG. However, I trust that it will, it just needs to know I'm boss and not the fat deposits. Thanks for the support. I will let you know how I do. Cheers! Shirley ;o)

Hey, Shirley ... and Sharon (my sista in weight loss) ... I just read in Simeons Protocol: The weight registered by the scale is determined by two processes not necessarily synchronized under the influence of HCG. Fat is being extracted from the cells, in which it is stored in the fatty tissue. When these cells are empty and therefore serve no purpose, the body breaks down the cellular structure and absorbs it, but breaking up of useless cells, connective tissue, blood vessels, etc., may lag behind the process of fat-extraction. When this happens the body appears to replace some of the extracted fat with water which is retained for this purpose. As water is heavier than fat, the scales may show no loss of weight, although

sufficient fat has actually been consumed to make up for the deficit in the 500 calorie diet. When such tissue is finally broken down, the water is liberated and there is a sudden flood of urine and a marked loss of weight. Also, it's 6 small apples beginning at lunchtime and continuing to lunch the following day. Which I'm not exactly clear on because it states that you have a normal lunch the following day (keeping with the 500 cal diet). I'd just consume the 6 apples, and minimal liquids, until I went to bed in the evening and resume my regular schedule the following day. Hope that helps somewhat!!! Don't get discouraged although I know it's easy! I lost 15 lbs the 1st week then my weightloss quit for 2 days. Funny how

that can be discouraging when I've NEVER IN MY LIFE lost 15 lbs in one week!!! Anyway ... as of today, I'm down 18 lbs!! I'm so psyched!!! Sharon ... how are you doing? Almost time for that thong bikini??? Have a GREAT day filled with lots of smiles and happy positive thoughts! Hi Ladies: Well, I did the apple day and little water, and pee'd like a race horse all night long and this morning and the scale never budged. :o(

So here is what has happened and would be glad for input.

May 27 - Day 1 - 200 pounds

May 29 - 2 day gorge 202 pounds - ate everything that wasn't nailed down!!

June 5 - after 1 week - 192 pounds - down 10 pounds

June 8 - down to 190 - total drop of 12 pounds.

Been at 190 now for my 5th day, and yesterday (June 12) I did the apple day.

So do I go back to the regular 500 cal for a few more days and see what happens. It doesn't say you can do two apple days in a row.

Now regarding the other lady's question - Protein foods provide 4 calories per gram, so that would be 400 calories per 100 grams x 2 times a day = 800 calories, plus our 2 fruit (eg. 50 cals each x 2 = 100 cal) and veg at 50 cals each x 2 = another 100 cals, and we are eating 1000 cals a day not 500 cals per day.

I am just estimating the fruit and veggie cals here.

So is my math correct, or am I missing something? I think my body went into that starvation mode as it usually does because it thinks it is just on another diet and I'm not eating so it shuts down. However, there is very little hunger with the hCG as opposed to other diets.

I would be grateful for any suggestions.

Cheers, Shirley

I was on a plateau for 5 days after 2 weeks on shots. But then without doing the

apple day, it just started going down. This week in my last week, I have lost

6lbs up to now...

Really frustrated now. This is Day 7 with no weight loss and stuck at 190 pounds. Even with doing the apple day on June 12 and did the regular 500 cal yesterday, no loss. Even without the hCG you would think that a person who ate just 500 cal would lose half a pound or more in 7 days!! Wouldn't you? Any suggestions from the group is much appreciated. Will hang in there, as at some point something has to happen. Shirley

This concerns me that you are not loosing. How much do you weigh now?

If you dont have that much to loose, could that be it?

I am being banded on 7/13 and concerned that this may happen to me. I

would not be happy paying all that money and not loosing. What size

The time frame between being banded and getting a fill is called Bandster hell. It's bandster hell for a reason, there is no fill yet. It's a bit like buying the best tires on the market for your car. If you don't put air in them you won't get very far. How much weight should someone lose with no restriction? Food choices play a role as well. If people continue consuming fat, sugar, and calories, they aren't going to lose.

Some people lose a lot of weight during bandster hell, some don't lose until they get an actual fill. Each person is different.

hi everyone and thank you for your responses.

i might not be getting enough protein. i have read up since yesterday

and think that might be my problem and my body might be holding onto

the weight. i weighed 305 at surgery and lost 15lbs in the hospital. i

am still at 290. i think the size of your band depends on what the

doctor thinks is best for you but i got the smallest i believe at 9.75

and in the hospital i had a small complication with my stomach lining

being very swollen and i had to stay a few extra days until fluid

would pass through the banded area....but still-- my band is quite

tight. i am eating less than 800 calories a day but i am not back to

exercising yet either as i felt a little tired until just recently.

dr. a. and his staff all remarked that my case of swelling is a little

rare but that it happens and i couldnt have asked for a nicer

As others have already stated here, you have not started the program

yet. The surgery is just the first step. I am not losing a lot of

weight but I don't expect to until I get my first 'fill' which will

come at the end of the month.

It's completely normal. Your body is healing so it's holding onto fluids during

the healing process. The same exact thing happened to me, only it was 12 pounds

and hold. You'll lose as soon as the healing is a little more underway. I was

sleeved 8/10/09, and have lost 80 pounds (26 pounds pre-op). Wearing size 8

jeans now (I'm 5-7.5 " tall) and weigh 166.

>

> HI, I had the sleeve done on Jan. 6th 2010. The first 10 days I lost10 pounds

and I haven't lost any weight since. Is that normal. I am eating and drinking

the protin as we are suppose too. I try to drink as much as possible, but maybe

not enough. Is that possibly the answer? Help
