Guest guest
you or your husband are welcome to contact me or my husband regarding our experience with Dr. Aceves in Mexicali. I was banded on 9/15/07 and am going back on 11/14 for first fill. skromines@...kromines@...my husband is a nurse and specializes in infection control. he said that if all hospitals in the U.S. were this clean and all drs and staff this caring and professional, we would not have the problems we have here. skOn 10/24/07, vicky <vickyburns26@...> wrote: Anyone that has gone through this please let me know ? Guest guest
Hello Vicky, Your going to get a lot of emails...I am sure all of our hubbies were worried...Mine was big time. He insisted on taking off work and going with me. Of course I knew he would as I would go with him when the time comes...But he was going prepared to defend me if it came to it...I remember he told me, "If I see any funny business, you get ready to run". lol...Now he is Dr. A's biggest supporter!!! Fill free to let your husband call him and talk to him. My husband is Jimmy our home # 870-887-0187 (after 4:30 central time) or he can call him at his job anytime after 9 AM it is 870-379-2766 (He is the boss, so he won't mind)...He should be the one to answer the phone (at the Post Office)...In fact Jim wants the band too...And will one day get it... Good Luck and Best Wishes... Guest guest
> > Anyone that has gone through this please let me know ? > HI Vicky, I'm Jen from Portland, OR. EVERYONE I discussed this with said " Your not going to Mexico! " I have ALL of them in my corner now. I provided links, discussed the local options and the lead answer to the concern was to show how new the hospital is and ask each person, would YOU rather have a sugeon that has done 1500+ or a local surgeon with minimal experience? I keep telling them US healthcare is behind the curve on this one and even with insurance I am better off cost wise in Mexico due to tax write off. Too much information? Sorry if it is, I am so keyed up and love that we can share this forum.

Guest guest
> I AM SO HAPPY to relieve a little stress. No one except us know how every waking moment is keyed into this life changing event. Your hubby may be the most concerned in your corner but my " mommy " is the devil's advocate and now biggest supporter (she's even a financial supporter!). Since I researched US options too, I made sure I had a letter of referral from my PCP. I called the IRS to be sure I was reading p502 correctly. Their legal rep confirmed that surgery outside of the states is not excluded as part of the medical/dental Schedule A write off. He used the example of gross adjusted income of $60,000. If I am to have the J & J band (still researching) then the 7.5% write off would be about $3000. That is NOT including any other Schedule A or medical deductions. The agent said to have a copy of the letter from my PCP with my taxes in case there is a flag. I am still trying to get preauthorization from my insurance (BC/BS) so that the fills will be covered by them. I am charging the surgery to a new no interest for 15 months card (except for the deposit) and even with the 3% addition it is the way to go for me because I will have it paid off w/in 15 months. Again, probably too much information but I wish someone had told me about these things so hopefully it can help others.
Guest guest
Vicky and Jen I think if you took a poll of everyone on this board you would se a large number of people that had at least one person upset because they were considering going to Mexico for this surgery,,,or for any surgery for that matter.......... All that any of us can do is our own homework on the subject...and then decide who you want to tell and just how much you are willing to share with them. I chose not to tell my family before but when two of my sisters came to California for a visit last month I finally told them before they left. They were fine with it ...after I explained everything to them... lapjen07 <lapjen07@...> wrote: >> Anyone that has gone through this please let me know ?>HI Vicky, I'm Jen from Portland, OR.
