Amy from NY help advice needed I was banded three days ago. I feel like crap. Feel weak, get strange pains when walking, hard to describe, a feeling of tightness that comes and goes quickly. I can hardly drink, a few sips at a time, no appetite whatsoever, have to force myself to drink clear protein. Is this normal??? Any advice would be so appreciated. Thanks. . Guest guest
HI ; My name is Anne and I was banded March 12, 2007. Those first few days I remember that feeling of tight pressure - I walked around holding my gut for a few days. The next week was much better and after a couple weeks I could actually pick something up off the floor wihtout looking like a pregnant squatter!! So far I have lost nearly 20 pounds. i had a hard time with the broth/protein. I drank Special K protein water, and ate jello. I am now in 3rd week and have become accustomed to eating a lot less than I used to eat. It's funny - I often just feel like eating. I've relaized that if I take little bits at a time, I got enough food to sustain me, without overdoing it. I had to add some yogurt near week two as my digestive system was freakin' out. Now I find that I no longer need my acid reflux med, my dairy intolerance pill, and take fewer meds overall (already!) Hang in there - it gets better quickly . > > I was banded three days ago. Guest guest
, That is normal, But you will feel better in a few days. Make yourself drink your liquids so that you don't get dehydraded. You may be having gas pains. Those gas pains work funny but You will feel better. When I was banded (May 2006) I felt the same way and begin to wonder if I had made a mistake but it will pass and you will be fine and when you see those scales start to move you will really feel good. Guest guest
, I promise, this will pass. Remember, you have just had surgery! Your body has been through trauma, whether we consider this a major surgery or not. Any sort of surgery you have is a shock, of sorts, to your body. Three days? My goodness, give your self time, hon. I was flying across country the third day after my surgery and I remember I cried just about the whole day. I felt absolutely miserable! I hurt, I ached, I couldn't eat or drink much of anything, I couldn't help but wonder what in the hell I had just done to myself. But, amazingly, by day 5, things looked much better. Now, you will HAVE to focus on getting some protein in because your energy level will diminish greatly if you don't. Find some Special K water, Isopure (ugh!) or New Whey Protein that you can tolerate to get that protein in. Keep your liquids up and things will begin to be a bit brighter. Give your body a break! It has been through alot lately!! Keep posting! That is why we are all here! Guest guest
You can have a better day today even if you are still not up to par. Make a conscious decision that today will be better and somehow it will turn out that way! Jenni Currie
Guest guest
Jenni, I agree with you that our thoughts and attitude greatly influence how our day is going to unfold. Trying hard to get to a more positive place. Feeling slightly better today. So that is a good thing! My main goal today is to get protein down. Thanks, J Currie <giftedtch@...> wrote: You can have a better day today even if you are still not up to par. Make a conscious decision that today will be better and somehow it will turn out that way! Guest guest
Hi , I was banded 10 days ago and I can tell you with certainity that it does get better each passing day. I would suspect the pain, discomfort you are feeling is from gas. I walked as much and as frequently as I could and that really helped with the gas pains. You also might be feeling tenderness around your port area...all very normal. I am finding out each day what works and doesn't work for me and my band. For instance, I figured out eating broth at night was upsetting my stomach so now I just have it at Noon and I haven't had a rough night since. I also found that first week having camille tea worked nicely for me before going to bed. Hang in there, it does get better. Nadine DOB 3/24/07 362(357)346/329/??? - haven't decided yet > > I was banded three days ago. I feel like crap.
