Guest guest
Yippee, ! Good for you!! I'm in shock right now. I sent an email to Nina about setting a date. That was just a few days ago, and I'm being banded on Saturday the 18!!! Yes, a week from THIS Saturday!! Oh, My Gosh!! And, short notice and all, my dear, darling best friend is going with me. I got the news yesterday, saw Charlene at a dinner last night, got a call from her this morning, bought airline tickets just now, and we're heading on down. I can't believe it. And what a wonderful friend. She's in the middle of capital budget prep at work, her boss just got the axe and she's stepped up to the plate, she has to make arrangements for care of her horse, cats, dogs, fish and house - all on the spur of the moment. No wonder she's been my "best bud" for 30 years (since we were infants, of course!). Anyone else going to be there 17th - 20th?? I look forward to meeting even one of my "bulletin board buddies" in person. I can't stop smiling...............!!!!!!! Guest guest
Good for you, Phyllis! And what a great friend to have! I felt the same way you do about Mexican hospital and the surgery and did worry about the new lifestyle. You really won't miss the old one, believe me! I feel sooo much better, have more energy and food is not a central focus any more. The further I go on this journey, the better it gets. Don't stress too much over the glitches you will encounter--down the road they will be just tiny bumps in the road! Guest guest
Thanks, Penny. In some ways I'm feeling like an alcoholic - being forced with giving up my good friend and comforter - FOOD! In others, I look forward to taking my focus off food. I barely get my computer booted up and voicemail heard in the mornings before I'm wondering what we're having for lunch in the cafeteria - good grief! One thing about the glitches - this is a great group to get support from when it's needed and it helps to give help, too. Thanks. Guest guest
my sister is coming with me.....started to start the diet today......but didn't get out to the store. So, let's just say that I am weaning myself into it. Do you know if the hotel is available for your husband or my sister on the other 2 nights? or if that is an option......or is it expected that they stay on the couch at the hotel. Guest guest
I am having the same mixed feelings. None of us got to this point by not liking (loving)food. I just love watching the food channel....and probably should have been a chef. I love to see how they mix the different ingredients to achieve the different textures and tastes. Hee, Hee....I also recently stoppped smoking (24 days - but who's counting) We should all have memorial services for the old lifestyle that has caused us all pain. One of my sisters objections to this procedure is believing that the person will still have all of the desires. Thanks to this group, I have heard over and over that our attitude changes as well as our taste buds.....I am counting on this.... B"Phyllis D." <tobygirl5@...> wrote: Thanks, Penny. Guest guest
Thanks....actually another Bandster suggested the Commit Lozenge. Works pretty well....better then anything else that I have tried. I have found that it actually seems to want to stick to the roof of the mouth....which works for me...less chance of swollowing it....and anytime I feel that I need an extra "hit" I just lick it...... <susanbattelle@...> wrote: Hey Congrats on quitting smoking! Guest guest
Hey I taught professional cooking for many years and it was part of my problem!(love of all things food). After banding during my 2 weeks of " clear liquid concentration camp " I watched more food network than ever to live vicariously with the pros! I'm not sure it was the best thing to do but it did work for me. I was so swollen and restricted that I had no hunger whatsoever but like many, I missed food! After the 2 weeks my attitude did change and I am not so obsessed anymore!
