Guest guest
I always have tipped Ernesto. He drives you, takes you to the hotel, picks you up to go the hospital, hauls your luggage...I would plan for that for sure. Best of luck to you on your band! He really takes care of his people. We tipped him $20.00 for the trip and it was worth every penny. I also tipped him for the shopping trip. He stayed with me every minute and carried my bags and was my interpreter! By all means do tip him.
Guest guest
I am told that it is customary to tip shared drive drivers $2-$3. $ 20 seems to me extravagant. You are not paying for the ride, beacuse the ride is a courtesy extended by Dr. Aceves to all of his patients. Just my opinion, everyone does as they please. Guest guest
I'm pretty sure BulletNurse is referring to a grand total, not per trip. There are a total of four trips, the drive from Calexico to Mexico, the hospital to the hotel, the hotel to the hospital, and the other trip from the hospital to the US. I did the same, I gave him $20 total. But it isn't required. 252/168/150 Banded 12/06 On 8/6/07, Margaret Nemet <margaret.nemet@...> wrote: I am told that it is customary to tip shared drive drivers $2-$3. $ 20 seems to me extravagant. Guest guest
I think everyone can do what ever they want in this regard. You have paid $8,200 to them & I do not think any tip is expected. If you are on a tight budget & can't afford it I don't think you will be treated any different as I found everyone in Mexico real helpful & friendly whether tipped or not. When I travelled a lot if I got good service I just got in the habit of tipping. Car rental drivers, hotel drivers, maids, room service, bellhops & others in the service industry all make crap wages. $200 hotel room-$2 tip for maid-a whopping 1%!Most people think nothing of tipping 10-15% for a meal out. I just think people behind the scenes should get a little too. Steve > > > > I just read that someone tips Ernesto $20 for the trip. Guest guest
If you have a few extra pesos when you are leaving Mexicali give it to some of the poor people in the street while you are waiting in line at the border. It will make you feel a lot better about yourself. Steve > > > > > > I just read that someone tips Ernesto $20 for the trip. Guest guest
I said I gave Ernesto $20 but as someone else said it was for all the rides & help. I did not give him anything until I got back to the San Diego airport. I wanted to leave more money to my heirs in case I didn't make it, ha,ha, just joking Dr. A.. You are tipping because of good service. When a waiter or waitress brings your food you are not paying them to bring it.Tipping is a personal choice. I tip according to the service I received. Yes, it is true Ernesto is already being paid by the doctor, however he goes the extra mile so to speak.I will surely tip him again, and generously. Guest guest
Me and my 2 friends gave him one $20 bill, we like to tip good service and I'm sure he doesn't make alot of money. We tipped him on the return trip to the airport. I wouldn't think he expects it or its necessary.Use your own judgement ,some of us can afford it and some can't. --- rondagellis <purple42@...> wrote: > > > > > > > > > > > I just read that someone tips Ernesto $20 > for the trip.
