I usually hear that folks with candida should eat meat and veggies and no carbs

I have had a lifelong battle with Candida overgrowth...multiple yeast infections, itchy skin, coating on my tongue, lethargy, you name it. I have learned that restoring or adding probiotics is pointless unless you can stop the bacteria first. I am a total vegan and I eat a lot of complex carbs. I still managed to get rid of most of my Candida symptoms by eating absolutely no sugar or sweeteners. And I do eat a lot of fresh fruit. To kill the Candida I swear by GSE (about 8 drops 3 times a day in water) and oil of oregano which I also drink in water. Sugar is the big culprit. I eat tons of veggies, both raw and cooked, no meat or animal products and the only vinegar I eat is unfiltered apple cider vinegar (and very very little of that). I am 100% sugar free. I saw a dramatic drop in Candida symptoms when I quit the sugar cold turkey 9 months ago.

My natural doc said i need to get plenty of protein.

Meat is certainly not the best source of protein, but it is an excellent source of fat. I eat lots of beans. I've been a vegetarian for almost 30 years had have never been protein deficient. In fact, I've never met anyone who was diagnosed as "protein deficient". I think it's a scare tactic put out by the cattle association or someone to make people think they are going to shrivel up and die if they don't eat meat. I know 70 yr. old people from India who have never eaten meat in their entire lives and they are doing fine. It's a crazy myth!

Of course you feel best when you get plenty of meat in your diet. But

then the candida is being fed and won't bother you too much. Meat

creates mucus and an acidic condition within the body. Yeast, bacteria

and viruses thrive in an acid environment. You will never get the

candida under control as long as you continue to create the environment

that has caused it to become systemic in the first place.

How long do you wish to continue fighting your candida? Of course you

are going to feel horrible. Anyone who has ever fasted or gone raw for

any length of time knows that you are going to feel horrible until your

body gets cleansed and heals itself. However, it won't happen every day.

You will have good days and not so good days just like you have now.

Where do you believe that cows, horses, sheep, elephants, etc. , get

their protein from? All the protein you will ever need can be obtained

from vegetables, fruits, nuts and seeds.

As I mentioned to you already it is your choice how you wish to handle

your situation. I cannot do it for you nor can your MD. Only through

fasting and changing your diet to a raw living foods diet can you ever

get candida 100% under control. Afterwards, if you wish to return to

your previously schedule programming you may but it will be with

consequences. You can fast on water alone for 7 - 10 days, just stay in

bed and rest all those days and allow your body to do what it knows how

to do 10 million times better than any nature doc, MD or other human

consciousness can. Your body knows exactly what it needs to do to heal

itself but you need to allow that to happen and your not going to be

doing that if you continue to create the soil that it loves to thrive in.

It is your choice Hope. There is lots of info out there on this subject

and tons of it from the medicos, and others who have a vested interest

in seeing that you remain ill.

I hope this helps you but you are the one who needs to decide whether

you wish to be in perfect health or just have your symptoms assauged.

Thanks for posting this Gloria,

No one is ever protein deficient. Your body recycles approx. 75% of its

protein leaving you to only need about 25% from outside sources. All of

this can be obtained from fresh fruits and vegetables very easily.

Grains like quinoa and amaranth are very good sources of protein, hemp

seeds are an excellent source of protein. Beans, though a good source of

protein are not really a food that is good for human digestion. They are

both a protein and a carbohydrate and one should never mix proteins and

carbs together. Proteins need an acid to digest, this is where pepsin

comes in along with the HCl in the stomach and carbohydrates need

ptyalin to digest and this salivary amylase is destroyed by stomach

acidity. This is why beans create gas as the carbs ferment before they

ever reach your duodenum (small intestine leading from the stomach).

All carbs should be eaten separately to allow the ptyalin to effectively

(as long as you properly masticate your food and thoroughly mix it with

saliva) digest this food and allow it to pass through the stomach

without having the digestion stopped by the acidity that would be caused

by protein consumption at the same time.

Where do you believe that cows, horses, sheep, elephants, etc. , get

their protein from?

Did anyone ever read Lyman "The Mad Cowboy"? He was a 4th generation cattle rancher . He tells a very interesting story about why he went from cattle rancher to total vegan and organic produce farmer. This guy knows first hand about what's going on in the meat industry, and according to his experience, cows are not eating grass...they are eating ground up dead cows and other disgusting things. And he says that organic meat is no better. I was just at read Borders reading through his second book "No More Bull". His information is an eye opener.
