Guest guest
Di-- Count me as a tinnitus sufferer even with bilateral CIs. My tinnitus comes in different forms. Let me see . I hear roaring freight trains; Jets taking off and landing; musical tinnitus; talk show radio (that one really drives me bonkers and thank god does not happen too often), humming, clanking bells (new tonight) and that is about it but that is enuf to drive me crazy <grins> My CIs do mask them most of the time. I only hear them when I have them off or when I am under tons of stress then they dont hide it. -- Snoopy bilateral RI
Guest guest
Snoopy, When you hear musical tinitus, do you hear jazz, oldies but goodies, the blues? What about radio talk show tinitus? Do you hear Rush Limbaugh advertising juicefuls? Just interested. Larry
Guest guest
Larry-- I am chuckling now. At Christmas I actually hear Christmas music. but other times it is just plain music that I just cant describe. as for radio talk it is just talk. I am prelingual so it sounds gibberish to me honestly. so maybe later on as I become adept hearing better that talk will make sense. -- Snoopy bilateral RI
Guest guest
Hey Snoopy, Not to worry. If you've missed old Rush Limbaugh, you haven't missed much. He generates hot air every day. When I was at the University hospital for my seizures, I had my share of auditory illusions. I thought I heard the organ playing Bach and the mighty Tabernacle choir was coming after me. I also thought I had the following conversation with a roommate; " Hey Larry, do you like dixieland and modern jazz? " I said " no, not very well. " He said, " Well then, you ain't worth a " " " " . " I often hear songs in my head from the 60s that are like a continuous loop tape. I am going down the rocky road of Cochlear evaluation. Reading these posts make me cautiously optomistic. At one time, I had excellent hearing. Larry
