Guest guest
IT WILL WORK! Don't stress out about it! There is no way that it can't work as long as you follow the correct plan or "rules" that Dr. Aceves gave you. Have you had a fill yet? If not, you can't expect it to be fully operational at this time. You have the band there but it is like a tire without air. It doesn't get the car very far that way, right? I would suggest that you get a fill if it is time for that. Keep us posted. Guest guest
i was banded on march 27, 2006 - i had my 1st fill in may and had to have a fill every month after that for 4 months. i was very disappointed with the results and the restriction - but finally got to where i need to be. but you must follow thru with your fills when necessary until you get to the place where you need to be. so dont be disappointed, it will happen for you - i know i too wanted great restriction right off the bat, but did not and was disheartened at first. but remember 13 pounds is great weight loss for 6 weeks. you will get there caprise skinygirl06 <skinygirl06@...> wrote: why is it that everyone else seems to be choking down broth - I haven't had any trouble eating/driking anything since being banded on 11/10/06 -I am beginning to worry now - I have only lost 13 pounds total - am going into six weeks post op , and don't have any difficulty with anything - is this band going to work for me? Guest guest
Everyone is different. I honestly wouldn't worry about it until after you have had a fill. Your band is wide open right now. I know what you mean about this band just HAVING to work. I decided this is my last shot at weight loss. That's why I was soooo careful about my research. This is it, I'm not fighting it anymore after the band. I am going to do it this time. Call and schedule a fill somewhere. Where are you? Are you going back to Mexico for the fill? > > why is it that everyone else seems to be choking down broth - I haven't > had any trouble eating/driking anything since being banded on 11/10/06 - > I am beginning to worry now - I have only lost 13 pounds total - am > going into six weeks post op , and don't have any difficulty with > anything - is this band going to work for me? Guest guest
Here's alittle of 's tough love going to come out from me...you have to WORK with the BAND, the band doesn't do it all for you. You have to start getting your brain wrapped around the idea of cutting back on foods. Now, for you perhaps you'll have better success after a few fills, however don't rely on them...you have to make the choices to stick with the diet, it's a change of lifestyle. Some people do well prior to their first fill, some do better with fills...just hang in there! 13lbs is nothing to laugh at, could you have done it without the band? Doubtful. Keep that chin up in the air girl...you're going to do great!!! Remember, you didn't gain your weight overnight, nor will you lose it overnight. Allowing yourself to experience the journey is the best...enjoy the small achievements. If you know right now you don't have restriction, then this is a time to exercise control...maybe have broth with higher protein...add protein powder or eat homemade chicken broth..it will contain higher amts of protein. I had used Won Ton Soup cause of all the chicken, pork, shrimp and other protein meats then strained out the solids and drank the juice...it helped to fill me up. BREATHE!!!!! Take care of your body! Guest guest
Hi there Skinygirl06. Your story sounds very similar to mine. I had absolutely no problems with anything during post op recovery. Even cheated a few times with no problem. Not that I suggest that! I moved into each new phase with no problems. Well, there was a taquito incident one night. My first experience with pbing. Big fun. I had only lost 13 pounds before my first fill. Not to worry. Just remember, slow and low. I had my first fill and lost 5 pounds the first week. Then I was able to eat a little too much and didn’t loose anymore. Just had my second fill yesterday and we’ll see what happens. I am really restricted this time and having trouble with more than a couple spoonfuls of cream soup today. But this makes me happy. I have lost 20 pounds in 3 months. Not as quick as others, but this is my journey and it’s just the beginning. The only way the band won’t work for you is if you don’t work the band. Hang in there. . Thank you, M. Guest guest
Hey I don't know you and this is the first response or message at all I've left since my band date of Oct. 19th '06. I, too, have had no problem getting down anything like I thought I would've after the initial surgery. I've lost maybe 10 lbs and it's dissappointing since I spent so much money BUT I admit I haven't done the physical exercise necessary. My first fill is scheduled for Dec.21- this Thurs.- and I'm hoping it will make all the difference. I'm not very overweight and Dr. Aceves' people told me they put the smallest band on me possible. So anyway, please let me know if your situation is similar and I'll tell you how my first fill works out and you do the same ok? thanks, Bianca

Guest guest
Bianca, Just to let you know....with no water in your band you will be hungry and eat just like before surgery!! Once you get a fill start an exercise, anything, clean the house, walk the neighborhood, treadmill..something everyday!! You will see results when your intake is drastically reduced and you expend some energy!! :-) Keep your chin up!! It will happen for you too!
