Guest guest
Hi All! My name is Sherry and I'm for the beautiful Cayman Islands! I had my MGB on July 19, 2005 with the wonderful Dr. Dasher and just wanted to giver everyone a quick update. On the morning of surgery I weighed 320lbs. and had a 57 " waist. Today I am weighing in at 183lbs. and have a 35 " waist! After surgery I signed on with a personal trainer and now work out five nights a week. He put me on a cardiovascular regimen that involves walking, cycling and the stairmaster. So now each morning I walk 5 miles on the treadmill and then cycle for 15 minutes and finish on the stairmaster for 15 minutes. In the evenings, we work with weight and on toning. If someone had told me a year ago that I would have gotten this far, I would have laughed in their face. Before surgery I had outgrown Lane (size 28) and 3X sweatpants and 4X t-shirts had become my everyday wear. I now wear a size Large T-shirt and can wear a 12/14 pants and tailored shirts. The exercise has really helped with the loose skin. At this point, I won't need plastic surgery. I had started to notice some loose skin on my arms and voiced my concerns to my personal trainer that I didn't want to get " bat wings " . He designed a program for my arms that involved doing 100 reps with light weights on each arm twice per day. I now wear sleeveless shirts and am very comfortable with my arms. They are toned and there is even a slight bump when I flex to make a muscle! My doctor says that at my age I also have more elasticity in my skin and this also helped. I started a new job two weeks ago and they suggested that people bring in baby/younger pictures of themselves and post on the board so everyone could guess and match the pictures to the staff members. I stuck up a picture of myself that was taken 6 days before surgery and everyone was stumped. Finally, at the end of the day I admitted it was me but some people still don't believe it! I decided after this surgery that I was going to live life to it's fullest and made a list of the things I wanted to do before my 35th birthday (I will be 30 this coming July). The first 3 items on the list: getting a tattoo, going bungee jumping and doing a 10-mile run. I got my tattoo in December, went bungee jumping in January (I was so @#*(! & scared) and on Saturday, March 4 went on a 10-mile run with 7 other gym members! Life is great! Talk to you soon, Sherry 320/183/140(soon come)!
