Guest guest
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Hatis! I used it ALL the time with my hearing aids, and it allowed me to function really, really well on the phone with such a severe loss. When I lost my hearing in my better ear, I used it on my 'bad' ear and did struggle a little, but without it there was NO way I could hear on the telephone. My friend who has a CI tried it and loved it too. If you do purchase the Hatis, don' t buy I think it's the professional, with the head piece that attaches to your head. It is entirely uncomfortable and hard to tote along. Just my two cents worth. Amy > Hello! I wanted to give just a little personal testimonial of the > HATIS. Guest guest
Hey Tina! << do you not get interference with the cell and your t-coil? No, I haven't had any interference like that yet. I did with the CHAAMP a little bit, but so far the HATIS has not had any interference. <<can you hear the cell ring in your pocket or do you keep it on vibrate? I can't hear any phone ring except my amplified ( " shop " ) ringer from RAdio Shack. The cell phone I leave on vibrate. Otherwise, I'd never know it was ringing. > >Any mention of opinions or products is that of Portis, and not > >necessarily that of any organization or other person affiliated with > >organizations that work with those with hearing loss. Guest guest
Hi ! So good to see you on this list - and yes! That HATIS is super great! I got one several years ago at a SHHH convention - the HATIS Lite. It works wonderfully well with my cell phone - and I do appreciate the hands free option when driving. When not driving I use the cell phone right up to my ear with the BTE telecoil switch engaged on my 3G. I recently got a new cell phone and changed service to Verizon. My new cell is a clamshell type flip phone - the LG VX3200. ( I did not opt for the picture phone - just a plain jane model that works wonderfully well. ) I can use this w/o the telecoil of my BTE, but as a long time HA user that used the telecoil alot, it is just so much easlier to use the " t " option. One other thing I have learned well, is that my old TMDA phone cannot hold a candle to the clarity of the CMDA phone! Just my personal experience, but one that I have seen expressed here before! I am much happier with Verizon now that they have expanded into rural WI!! We folks that live in the " boondocks " just have to wait a little longer for technology to find us I guess! Now I want DSL service!! - I am excited for you that you are exploring the possibility of a cochlear implant. We talked while at the convention in Omaha - that you were beginning to consider this option. Believe me - this is one decision you will never regret. My own regret is that I did not do it sooner! HATIS is unavailable where I live (New Zealand) but I have been using another product with cell phones for several years. Nokia make telecoil loop adapters (for certain models of Nokia phones only, won't work with anything else) the LPS-1 is for older Nokias, 5110, 6110, etc., LPS-3 fits phones with a mini-stereo jack and LPS-4 fits phones with Nokia's new interface, called a " pop-port " . Have a look at http://www.nokia.com/nokia/0,,5857,00.html I find the loopsets work very well. I am HA equipped but will be CI with a couple of months.
