Guest guest
HI Alice I'm here to learn about the implant. You've shared with me on and off the list as it is a decision that is not easy for me being it is my 5 yo daughter I'm Implanting. The one thing you have always told us " Not to Expect High at the first visit " , " Don't give up " and " A CI is all that you want it to be just harder for some and easier for others " . The list goes on and on of all the wonderful words of encouragement you have shared with this group. Listen to your own advice and take time to heal. Have hopes for the next appointment and the next and the next. If then nothing happens then we will be here for you.. In the meantime I will pray for your success with the CI replacement and that it will soon be all that you want it to be. God Bless a

Guest guest
Oh Alice, That is not how you wanted your day to go. I will continue to hope with you for a better experience on 4/28 and will keep you in our prayers. Sincerely, Kim (Jaxon and Brixon's mom) I Won't Keep You Waiting Any Longer As most of you know, today was the activation of my replacement on the right. I wish I had better news but unfortunately, I do not. The map looks a little different than the last one did before the surgery but it's not what I had hoped and prayed for. On it's own, I cannot hear with the right side, even with a new implant. Wearing the left with it, I can hear and quite well. The left, with it's multiple electrodes outside of the cochlea, is pulling all the weight. We are hoping that my appointment on 4/28 shows some improvement on the right but it may be time to accept the fact that my medical condition is going to render the implant useless. I've been preparing myself for that so it was easier to handle the difficult session today. Alice
