Guest guest
I used to be a 3-can-a-day Diet Coke addict. In fact, my entire family drank entirely too much soda. The last soda I had was on Feb. 22, 2006. I haven't missed it one bit! My family quit drinking them as well! Guest guest
I guess that would be one of the things I would miss, but I have to admit I drink a diet Dr. pepper every now and then. Although it has to be “de-fizzed” lol. If I try to drink one with the carbonation, it just hurts. I think I did without soda for about a year and few months after getting banded and mostly drank tea if I felt like drinking something other than water. Guest guest
Becka... I haven't met a single person yet that has had a really hard time with it. I do know of one person that still drinks it but she needs an adjustment too. But she doesn't drink nearly as much as she used to. I could go for weeks without so much as a sip of water, just Diet Coke. Isn't that horrible??? But I don't miss it. I didn't replace it with another caff'ed drink either. No tea, nothing. I plain don't miss it. I honestly don't know how that happened. > > > > Anyone else a soda addict? > > > > I used to drink Diet Coke like crazy. Guest guest
I was definitely addicted to cafeinne b/4 surgery. I spent 2 weeks pre op getting off sodas. I tried backing off slowly but had a mega monster headache every day. It was a nightmare! I hope I never ever drink a cafeinnated drink again - ever! One day I forgot and ordered regular iced tea at lunch and the next morning I had a headache craving cokes again! I must just be SUPER sensataive to it. I now drink a max of 1 cup decaf coffee or 1 glass of decaf hot tea a day and I'm just fine with that! I was really surprised to realize the level of addiction to caffeine. Thanks,Ally Question for old timers... Anyone else a soda addict?I used to drink Diet Coke like crazy. Guest guest
I miss pop more then anything else. Everytime I drive by a fast food place I dont even think about the food- I think about POP w/ crushed ice. I think that is what I will miss the most through all this. I lived on pop- 6-7 cans of diet pepsi a day and now for over 2 months I have not had any. I hate tea- so I drink WATER. Yum. But whatever I am doing is working so I will gladly give up pop to lose weight! > > Anyone else a soda addict? > > I used to drink Diet Coke like crazy. Guest guest
I quit drinking carbonated beverages about 1 year before I got banded because they made me feel bad. I found myself missing the crushed ice and taste, but what I've replaced it with is these Minute Maid Lite lemonade drinks in cans. There is a hospital near where I live that has a soda dispenser and crushed ice dispenser, so I swing by the hospital and run into that cafeteria and fill my cup with crushed ice and then pour my lemonade into that sometimes. Guest guest
... LOL! You sound absolutely thrilled with water! HA! I really don't miss it. I still miss guzzling a glass of anything liquid. Diet Coke, (btw, Diet Coke is wayyyyy better than Diet Pepsi! <g>) water, anything. Just downing a glass of water. I do miss that. But I don't miss soda. nicki_8875 <nicki_8875@...> wrote: I miss pop more then anything else. Guest guest
Why are carbonated drinks so bad for us banded folks? Thanks,Ally Re: Question for old timers... Guest guest
Ally, My Bariatric Coordinator said NO carbonation because it causes the little pouch above the band to stretch and you can end up making it bigger than it was intended to be. Ironically, I was seeing a dietician about 6 months ago when I was trying to decide on the band and she said, " of course when you drink a pop you feel full, it's because the carbonation fills your stomach and stretches it out to be even bigger. " So I think they really do have something behind the science, it isn't just a ploy to destroy our lives. Guest guest
Have you ever tried Kool-aide...with sweet n low? I can't drink sodas and get bored with just tea. This is a nice alternative in many different flavors.nicki_8875 <nicki_8875@...> wrote: I miss pop more then anything else. Guest guest
You know what? That is exactly what I miss too--being able to gulp down water or any other liquid!!! I have never even after 15 months been satisfied with sips of anything but as soon as I try a gulp I REALLY regret it!! Oh well I guess it is sipping slowly for me from now on!
