Hey ,

Are you drinking enough water throughout the day? You may want to

take in water between meals and see what happens. For me, I after I

eat I am pretty much done for 3 or 4 hours, if I do feel hungry I

have a small snack, some papaya or fruit (gotta get your fruit

intake), or I have a small travel size tuna kit which is only 1.7oz

and take that in...primarily I eat fruit. You may want to back

yourself to full liquids like soups till you are ready to eat

solids...if you are PBing too much, that is what I was told by Dr.

Aceves. Some days I can eat solids like today I had 2 Chicken

Nuggets (NO NOT MCD's either....LOL) these are bought from the store

and I watch how much breading it has on it...no deep fried either.

Now, I cut up the chicken nuggets into little bitty pieces, with

most of it going to my cats, and I also had some broccoli and

carrots (raw with fat free Ranch)..I had about 2 little florets of

broccoli and 2 small slices of carrots and that was it. My food sat

on a small dish still with room on it...lol. Just take it one day at

a time. Now, I did have my first PB on the train back home from San

Diego, it wasn't pleasant at all in fact when you described the

situation I felt the tightness in my chest from remembering my

situation.

Just take it easy and if you cant eat solids then don't...go back to

liquids for that day then try again...there will be days when you

can have solids and others when you cannot. Good Luck!

,

I was filled on Monday and haven’t

felt too much difference – he pulled 1 cc of liquid out and then put in 2

cc – I was hoping to feel more restriction. After I ate last nite though

– I laid down too soon and got really gassy and nauseous (sp)? – I go

back in two weeks to let the fill doc know what is going on… Hope all is

well with you.

Hi Kelli

Thanks for all your advice...yes I've been drinking a lot of water,

but not too close to eating and at least an hour after eating. I

just don't ever feel " full " as in satisfied...i pb'd 4 times

yesterday but I sure didn't feel like I was full in the " old " way....

Nina, if you read this, how much food total should my new pouch be

able to hold....then maybe I'll just go by that and measure, when

its gone, its gone....:(

, this wasn't directed at me but your experience sounds just like mine. I never felt full either but yet could not hold much down and especially not anything too solid like meat or salad. I went for weeks eating only crackers. All I can say is hang in there. It does get better and you should drop weight like crazy during this time. I know I did. I thought many times that I needed an unfill but was too stubborn to go get one. I'm at goal after only 8 months and miraculously loosened up so I can now eat solids pretty good although not too much at a time. I never really got used to how little you can eat and survive. Sometimes only 3 or 4 bites and then have to wait an hour or so for more. Keep your chin up and take care. Good Luck, Sheri Wilkins

Yes !

I have felt that same way. The good news is you WILL

figure out how to avoid that feeling and it does get

better AND you are probably losing a lot of weight

right now! Try staying with liquids or mushies a

while longer and then when you get on solids, go

REALLY slow. Eat 1 very small bite, wait 2 minutes

then another bite, etc. Think about how you feel after

each bite and when the pressure starts--STOP. Even if

it is only 3 bites. Maybe you will need to eat

again--3 bites--after a few hours. Others may have

good suggestions, too because I think this is pretty

common and VERY nasty! I have it a lot when I go out

to eat because I think I hurry too fast when I am

eating with others.

Good Luck and be patient!

Sheri, I really appreciate your post! It's somewhat comforting to

know that I'm not the only one going through some of these things.

Could you tell me the amounts of each fill you got and how many

so far? Funny, but I can eat crackers too with no problem. Thanks

for your encouragement! These are pretty difficult times right now!

, I hgad my first fill 6 weeks to the day after surgery. I believe it was 1cc.

Then 31/2 weeks later I needed another one and I believe that one was 2.3cc. I have not had another one and I am at goal. I often think that my 2nd fill was too tight but I was losing so fast that I didn't want to undo it. About 2 weeks after reaching my goal I just loosened up a bit for no reason and now can eat most anything I want but not much at a time. I know it's hard but this will not last forever trust me. I hope this helps. Take care, Sheri Wilkins

Sheri,

How did you know you needed anotehr fill? Weren't you still tight

from the first one? Wow, you must have been super tight with the

2nd...yikes! So it took 8 months for your band to loosen up and for

you to eat anything?

Thanks for your encouragement! Yea, it may not last forever, it just

feels like it will! lol

Keri, my original weight was 235 and my original goal was to get to 150 but when I got to 150 I decided to keep going. I am now at 133 which is a loss of 102 pounds. I was banded on 8-12-05 so it has been just over 8 months. I am the queen of no willpower so if it worked for me I know it will for you also. Take care, Sheri Wilkins

Hi , I knew that I needed another fill when I went to a buffet restaurant and was able to eat 2 plates full of food. I think Dr. Aceves was very conservative with my first fill and that's why it didn't last very long. When I went back for my 2nd fill so close after my 1st I guess he figured he'd better give me a good fill this time.LOL It did not take 8 months for me to eat anything. There were days when I could eat and days when I could not. It took me a long time to recognize the signs of days when I was tight so needless to say I pb'd alot. That would make me swell and then I'd PB for a few more days. Once I learned how to listen to my band and stop trying to force food down then things would get better and I'd be able to eat a little more. There was times though when for weeks I could only eat crackers and sometimes mashed potatoes. Always I made sure to have protein shakes(very important)!! I hav

e been banded for just over 8 months and have lost 102 pounds so it has all been worth it. Hang in there and just realize that this will not last forever. You can do it!! Sheri Wilkins

, I'm now 250 messages behind. Just got home from Mexicali last night. Your question may already be answered. I have no experience since surgery was just Saturday, but I recall Dr. A. telling me it's OK to drink something, water or something, BEFORE eating, but of course, not during or for a couple of hours after. The water in the stomach can help the feeling of hunger while waiting for your food to go through the pass-through. I haven't experienced that yet since my diet has so far consisted of broth and jello and apple juice. Phyllis

Hi, Penny! Hey, you are doing great! I've been out of touch as I got down to the wire, then left for surgery. I'm home, sore (I mean SORE) from the larger GB incision, but happy to be banded and on my new adventure. I hope all is well with you. I still have about 185 emails to go, so maybe I'll "hear" more about how things are going. Phyllis
