Hi Leah,

I use the 3G by Cochlear and I use the #675 batteries that are also used

for hearing aids. I was getting 2 1/2 days per three batteries before but

since my last mapping I now get a full three days!!! One time I was in a very

noisy restaurant and right after we ordered our drinks my batteries totally died

on me. I walked two blocks down the street to a drug store and bought the 8

pack of Energizers. The drinks had just been set down on the table when I got

back and was I hearing fine as if nothing happened. Didn't miss a beat!! I

have finally gotten batter at making sure that I always have spare batteries

with me because the price Cochlear charges is the cheapest I have ever seen.

I use the rechargeables for the BWP (which I never wear anymore anyway)

and if I use the double battery pack then I never have to think about changing

batteries during the day EVER! I would just pop them out at night, recharge

them, and put in the ither pair the next morning. Made it a habit like brusing

my teeth.

My CI fits into my life very well and unobstrusively!!

Hello Leah,

Both the Med El and the Nucleus use disposable batteries.. anyone on

the Clarion? I don't think the Clarion has disposable batteries yet,

but I could be wrong.

With the Nucleus you get 300 free batteries wich is the equivalent of

a years supply if you get 50 hours useage. some don't get that many

hours and some get considerably more hours, I average 65 hours.

The Nucleus has warning beeps before your batteries go dead, but

occasionally I miss hearing the beeps and my batteries just go out..

not often though. I just make sure I carry plenty of spares with me..

Some in the car, some in my purse, and somein my processor carrying

case<smiles>

I believe the Med El has a light that blinks when the batteries are

low, but it's on top of the processor so someone would have to look

to see if it's blinking unless you took it off. Andy will be able to

tell you more about this, and someone else can fill you in on the

Clarion.

you can use throw away batteries , I always travel with those as it is not

always available to charge them but when at home we can charge them not the

BTE ones so far they are all throw away. some day they will have

rechargeable aid batteries.

Been using my 3G just over a year and still have 180 batteries

left. Got a handful of another brand to try out, but still, I am

getting godo mileage!

That is exactly why I love this 3G. I did not mind the routine

with the BWP, did the same thing you did, changed batteries every

night. Had 3 sets of them so always had a fresh pair with me during

the day. But the 3G has spoiled me. No charger to take along on

trips, just a few packs of 675s. So so nice!

on the Med-El it has a flashing light, but you know when it is dead because it

just goes quiet. The batteries are zinc-air disposables and they last about 4

days vs. rechargeable 4 hours. My Med-El takes the size 675 batteries. I prefer

the zinc air over rechargables myself.
