Guest guest
Nina sent me a diet from Dr. Aceves but it is basically low carb. I start mine on Feb. 1st and can't seem to get enough bread in right now. Good luck, Tammy > > I need to do the pre-op diet in order to get in a little better > condition before my surgery. Guest guest
Hi Here's what I did. small salad, oven BBQ chicken (small serving), 1/2 C. veges like broccoli, green beans, corn or whatever. The chicken gets old but look for a bunch of different ways to fix it--hehehe. Penny PS I sometimes substituted baked fish for the chicken. __________________________________________________
Guest guest
Can you drink some apple juice or something like that? You can also get some glucose tablets. I had this problem during the clear liquid phase but apple juice typically did the trick. Jenni Curriedawn <dawn9368@...> wrote: im having a problem with my first day of pre op diet. Guest guest
Dawn, Are you diabetic? The normal range for non-diabetics is 60-120. If you are, you may feel lightheaded/shakey below 100.What does your sugar normally run? A 1/2 glass of milk with each meal maybe enough to keep your sugar level just a bit higher and keep the shakes away. Let us know how you do ok? Guest guest
I don't know what the pre op diet is, where did you get it if I can ask?? Guest guest
The pre op diet i got from dr a. my sugar is always way above 100 usually about 130+ after a meal and my sugar was 70 after dinner (NOT GOOD), the pre op diet is 30 grams of carbs for the day. if i was to go to sugar reading of 60 i would physically be shaking and feeling disoriented. i guess i am gonna call my doctor about adjusting my diabetic medicine. also, did anyone else expierence head aches during the preop stage? dawn m

Guest guest
I know that the problem for me with apple juice or any other juice is that it can make the blood sugar go way to high. You may need to check with Dr. A or your personal Dr. if it gets to low.J Currie <giftedtch@...> wrote: Can you drink some apple juice or something like that? You can also get some glucose tablets. Guest guest
Actually under 100 is NOT normal unless you've been fasting. A normal sugar reading runs between 120 and 170 throughout the day (pre- meals). If you are diabetic or pre-diabetic, then a reading of under 100 will most definitely give you a shakey, out-of-sorts, crappy feeling. The other girls are right when they tell you to try milk or apple juice. This will bring your sugar levels up and take the shakes away the quickest. Milk will also give you a fuller feeling so you won't need to binge (which is a common feeling once your sugars have gone down so low). > im having a problem with my first day of pre op diet. Guest guest
Jenulch1... The pre-op diet really depends on your BMI. It is designed to reduce the amount of fat around your liver. If your BMI is under 40 I believe (and could be wrong) that you don't need it. Nina will send you a copy of it via email once you submit your paperwork.jenulch1 <JenHizer@...> wrote: I don't know what the pre op diet is, where did you get it if I can ask?? Guest guest
yes im diabetic, and have been for awhile. a reading of 75 after a meal is not ok. a reading of 170 after a mean is normal but not 70. i checked my diabetic lit from the hospital from when i took the class. and readings were not holding steady at 75 i was coming down and fast, which if your diabetic you know how bad that feels. Guest guest
Dawn, Identify the carb items on the pre-op list and include a serving of them with your meals. I can't locate a list, but I believe yogurt and skim milk were allowed? Maybe Nina can be more specifics. Hope your doing ok..Dana -------------- Original message -------------- From: "dawn" <dawn9368@...> yes im diabetic, and have been for awhile.a reading of 75 after a meal is not ok. a reading of 170 after a mean is normal but not 70. i checked my diabetic lit from the hospital from when i took the class. and readings were not holding steady at 75 i was coming down and fast, which if your diabetic you know how bad that feels. Guest guest
Miamiangel... I would have to disagree with you. Under 100 IS normal unless one is diabetic. The poster did not explain this until several of us asked her if she was diabetic or not. That cleared up a great deal of information.miamiangel888 <miamiangel888@...> wrote: Actually under 100 is NOT normal unless you've been fasting. Guest guest
Dawn, I was diabetic also and when I had my surgery my sugar was also out of control (Low) You need to go back to your Dr and let him cut down or adjust you meds. I am completely off Meds now so maybe you will too but go to your Dr.dawn <dawn9368@...> wrote: yes im diabetic, and have been for awhile.a reading of 75 after a meal is not ok. a reading of 170 after a mean is normal but not 70. i checked my diabetic lit from the hospital from when i took the class. and readings were not holding steady at 75 i was coming down and fast, which if your diabetic you know how bad that feels.
