Phyllis 15 lbs is great, keep up the good work and be faithful and you will loose more.philmcvick <philmcvick@...> wrote: Hello everyone. I am officially a bandster! I received my lap band on August 8th. Like all of you, my experience was a good one. The staff were very caring and Yolanda is just a kick! I had the pleasure of being banded along with Tony who is known to the group and we had some good laughs pre and post op. I experienced

some discomfort the 1st couple of days but am doing much better. I just cant wait to be rid of broth. The first couple of days I wasn't hungry at all. Now I'm starting to get an appetite. I take Isopril too but am really looking forward to stage 2. Anyway I've lost 15lbs in a week. Is this typical? I would appreciate any advise you experienced bandsters could give me. Thanks. HI, I was banded on the 11th. I have lost around 8 pounds. My sister also got banded, she has lost even more weight than me, I think 10-11 pounds. I am fighting with severe shoulder pain, my stomach feels great now. But my shoulder has brought me to my knees a couple of times. I hear you on the BROTH!! BLAHHHH. I am really not liking the isopril, it just has a horrible taste to me, but my sister doesn't mind it at all. I am also ready to move on. There as been many times that I would die to have a bite of something!! It is strange to know that I can't eat it?! I know each step will get alittle easier.. Nice to meet you & take care!! LAN

Lan, I had a real hard time at the begining but, it does get easier and better. I was banded with my best friend June 30 and I had to learn to stop comparing my weight with hers. I got yelled at by and Nina a couple of times, but it was good. It made me realize that we are all different and some of us loose weight quicker and some loose inches quicker. So don't compare yourself to your sister. Concentrate on your self and your tool. The shoulder pain is awful and mine got better by taking Gas X, Tums or Tylenol for the pain. It slowly goes away by itself. Good luck on your journey, you will began to see lots of results soon if you stick to your diet. Thanks for the kind words!! I really haven't been comparing to my sister. We both feel we are losing it too fast right now. I really dont want to lose too much too fast. I am still breast feeding my baby right now, so I need lots of protein & Vitamins right now. I Know once I can start different foods it will help! I think alot of my Shoulder pains have been from The Hiatal Hernia tha DR. A fixed while I was in surgery. I need to recover a bit longer with that! Thanks, lan

Lan, I know what you mean about wanting a bite of something. Every night

I cook dinner for the family and my stomach growls. When I take in some

broth it quiets some but I keep remembering what Dr. Aceves said, " this

is a mental process with a physical result " , or something along those

lines. Boy I didn't know how true those words would ring. I just keep

the focus on the results and take each day knowing that I am getting

closer to my goal which for me is enjoying food again but having mastery

and control. Hang in there. We'll get through this difficult phase soon.

Well I did it. Came home yesterday after after being banded on friday morning. I feel really good. Have some gas, lots of burping, I am hoping that it will diminish. I don't really know if I should weigh myself yet at all. If all your having is clear liquids how could you not lose weight?EilSC01/12/07

Count yourself lucky, mine hit me on the airplane :) :) It will go away although it seems like forever!! Remember, liquid in, liquid out :) Once you are back on solids this goes away. How to handle it, hmmm, I stopped thinking, "I'll just slip this little gas out" and started walking quickly to the bathroom. One time I was on my way to get my son from daycare, on my cell talking to my sister and it just came out :) We had a good laugh, she told me she thought something like this would happen if I went to Mexico for surgery, and I went home and changed before picking up my son. :) Try to laugh it off and know that every ounce that comes out is one less on your hips. If you are like me you better get used to it for a couple of weeks.

Broth & jello don't have much fiber in them. My bowel movements were

several days apart & it was diarhea city. When I got on liquids & then

regular food it got back to normal except that now I am eating so much

less that my 'movements' are about every other day. This IS a gross

subject isn't it, LOL.

Don't worry, things will be back to normal soon.

, So sorry about the airport mishap. Happened to me too--at the

beginning of my two flight trip home. Your bowels will return to normal

after you are back on solid food. It will be better even with the mushie

liquid stage. Best of luck to you. This is a short phase, just stay close

to home and potty.

Yes maam!!! THANKS for posting!! I was banded Aug 7th and actually

experienced this gas/expulsion on the airplane, right before we landed! i

waited to be the last one off and threw my panties in the commode

trash---ugh! Fortunately, I had a wheel chair waiting and put my purse on my

lap.Since then,it's happened on my best sheets,towels,and sofa cushion~i

have a 19 month old and use the waterproof crib pads on sofa, chair, and

bed,they wash out with TIDE.Of course it's a dayglow orange stain-when it

happens.I thought it was the amoxicillin, but still happens without it.As for

the toilet seat stains, bleach spray works-leave on 5 minutes. As for around

the house I've been wearing 2 maxi pads with wings, this way you're covered

front to back, use granny/old panties. As for the delicate subject of

raw, irritated anal tissue,TUCKS wipes help,as does a diaper creme like

TRIPLE PASTE OR DESITIN.

Does anyone know when normal toileting resumes? Does anyone have a

non-gagging solution to taking multiple crushed pills?I'm on liquids still.

DOES anyone use the UNJURY? Is the chicken soup flavor good? What about the

MATRIX dreamsicle or cookies/cream?

THE ISOPURE IS NASTY AND PROPEL ISN'T MUCH BETTER---please make

suggestions in how to get protein in during liquid stage.

MAY GOD BLESS YOU ALWAYS !

I did not take my vitamins for the two weeks on clear liquids & then

after that I bought a pill crusher for ones that could be crushed

(check with your pharmacist as some medications are time-release &

you are not to crush them) & opened & dumped any capsules in my

morning protein drink.
