Guest guest
Hang in there Terri...It will get easier! I promise :-) Dana -------------- Original message -------------- From: "peninsulahair" <peninsulahair@...> Terri, congrats on the 14 lbs loss!! that is alot for one week out! :-) Your post sounds exactly how I felt after surgery. I never thought I was addicted to food, but since the band I have come to realize how warped my relationship with food is! this is a hard first phase, but it does help you get some of your "head" stuff worked out. Because you never realize how much you love something until it is taken away. and as everyone told me, each phase gets much easier. so hang in there and feel free to vent anytime you need.hugs,>> I have been home for almost a week. Guest guest
Cooking for the family? I say let them eat sandwiches, cereal, oatmeal, etc. etc. etc. It won't kill them to not have home cooked meals for a while. Make this as easy as you can on you right now. Typical of most mothers, I'm sure you have waited on them hand and foot forever! Let them wait on you now and make life easy for you right now! I keep reminding my husband and my boys that this is MY year, NOT theirs! They have all had 16 years of my life devoted to them so now I get at least this one year for a change! It is kind of funny to come home from work, sit back and watch my husband do the cooking for a change! I kind of dread this year coming to a close! I only have about 3.5 months of MY YEAR left!! AAAARRRRRGGGGGHHHHHHHHH! Wonder what I can do next year??? LOL Keep up the good work! YOU CAN DO THIS! Life is pretty good at the moment! So do most go back to work within a day or so of getting back? I have a desk job - no physical labor and need to see how much time I need to request off. (I'll miss my job, Not!) Thanks everybody! Guest guest
Hi Ally, First - Congratulations on your decision. Everyone is different. I had a desk job also, and had surgery on Tuesday (the same day I arrived) Went ome on Friday...and went to work on Monday. It worked out pretty well, but felt a little " spacey " on Monday....It just may have been from all of the traveling, plus I am one of the older bandsters... I guess that brings up another question...Where are you coming from, and how long is your trip going to be? I was flying in and out of Orlando Florida, so it was a long flight. Guest guest
Hi , Thanks! I reserved Saturday, December 9th and I'm getting so EXCITED!!! Downloaded the documents today and read over them. Want to start taste testing all the different protein drinks and stuff so I can stock up b/4 I leave. What is your fav? Haven't made my flight yet but will this week. I'll be travelling from NW Louisiana. I think it is usually about a 4 hour flight though. I think I'll plan on taking off 1 week to recuperate. When were you banded? [Dr-Aceves-bandster s] Re: One Week> Postop...> > I have kept busy. What does watching TV or laying> around the house > mean? Guest guest
Way back in the end of March.... I bought some of the clear Isopure. With plenty of ice, I was able to get down a bottle a day...(most of the time.) No favorites...I don't like any of them. I also made myself a lot of soup, strained and froze the broth. I had the meat and veggies before surgery, for lunch...and also froze some of that in containers and pureed them and had them later in the mushie food weeks...Lots of protein and good vitamins from the vegetables. another plus side was that you could regulate the amount of salt and other seasonings...if you like garlic or onion....go for it...My freezer was a mass of little containers. Your flight is a lot shorter then mine so that will make the trip a whole lot easier for you. Are you going alone or is someone going with you? My sister insisted on going, but it would have been fine going alone. December 9th will be here before you know it...with the holidays you are going to be to busy to think about it. Congratulations and let me know how you are doing. B --- Alli Dye <allygator1963@...> wrote: > Hi , > > Thanks! I reserved Saturday, December 9th and I'm > getting so EXCITED!!! Guest guest
Ally, Congrats on your surgery date! I went to Mexico on Tuesday, surgery on Wed, home on Friday and back to work on Monday....I did ok but really wish I had taken the next week too! No real pain or anything just that damn "gas" in the shoulder & left side that kept me distracted!lol..I felt fine by Wed (1wk post-op) so I maybe only needed a few extra days from the trip to itself! I think most take 5-14days before returning to work. If you have the time, why not take a few extra days for "you" time. Good luck. Dana --------- Re: One Week> Postop...> > I have kept busy. Guest guest
Ally, You will probably regret taking that much time off. You won't need it and you will be MUCH happier if you stay busy rather than finding things to keep your mind occupied during the first two weeks of the I-Want-To-Kill-Somebody-Diet. I was off a week (school Mardi Gras holidays) and it was miserable! I was so much better off when I went back to work. You won't be all that sore and there is basically very little from which to recover. I would take a day off the day following your trip home. Guest guest
Hi Jenni! OK, now I'm confused. I guess everyone's experinece is so different. While I've been reading all the messages, I 've really been amazed at the variety of experiences from the surgery and the fills!! I'll do like mom always told me -- prepare for the worst and hope for the best. Fortunately, I have a flexible boss so I can come back whenever is best for me.
