Guest guest
Tammy, lol your so silly! , Caprise, and Ruby stayed at the hospital while Ingrid and I adventured out. Neither one of us got the worm lol I brought the tequila home. One for us to keep and one for a gift. To tell the truth I don't like tequila but the bottles are beautiful and from what Yolanda tells me that's the best tequila you can get. I'm sure we will open the bottle in a few month's but sorry to say there is no worm in either bottle. If there was I would be more than happy to let you have it lol. Guest guest
Karlie, That's great. It's especially nice for those of us " about-to-be-banded " (surgery date 04/12) to hear all about your experience. I'm so glad all is going well. Keep us posted. God bless! Vivian My Mexico experience Welp I am back from having my surgery and things are going good. First I would like to say that I couldn't have gone with a better group of women. Caprise, , and Ruby were awesome and Ingrid (Capris's friend) was super great. It really helped to have someone there that wasn't having surgery. Ignrid you were so much fun! I will always remember our crazy taxi ride to get tequila the day after I had surgery. I have done some crazy things in my life but I think that topped it lol. For anyone who is scared to go to Mexico to have surgery I am here to tell you that there is not one thing to be scared of. I was a little nervous about going but once I got there and saw Mexicali and met Yolanda, Dr. Aceves, , and Nina I KNEW I was in great hands. Dr. Aceves is a very soft spoken, knowledgeable man and one of the BEST Doctor's I have met. He answered every single question we had and made us feel right at home. Dr. Aveces visited me twice before surgery and three times the day after surgery. He seemes to be very concerned about how you are doing before and after surgery. I have not one thing bad to say about Dr. Aceves or his staff. is also a very soft spoken young man that is very caring and loving. He held my hand while I had my IV because he knew I was scared. Yolanda is one of the happiest funniest people. She will make you laugh so hard even though it hurts lol. Nina is BEAUTIFUL! What I would do for a body like that and oh my goodness is she just the sweetest! I had some major shoulder pain when I arrived home and had to see my Doctor here in Oregon today. He gave me some liquid pain medicine and now I feel fine. My right leg is going numb but Nina said that might be due to the shot they give you in your leg during surgery. My incision's look great and I have already lost 8 pounds. I have been reading the post's about the horrible fill's that yall have been getting. Since my flight was over booked on my way to San Diego I was given a later flight and a free round trip ticket to use any time so I plan on going to see Dr. Aceves to get my first fill and hopefully every fill after that. I wish all of you the best of luck and hope that yall can find a fill Doctor that know's what they are doing. If anyone has any questions please feel free to ask me. I don't believe in surgar coating anything especially when it comes to your health. I will answer you honestly and help you with what ever questions you may have. I will be posting pictures tomorrow for everyone to see ) Sorry this is so long guess I just had a lot to say lol. Guest guest
Ooh, Karlie. Let me know what brand of tequila that is. I go through a lot of it in the summer (well, not me personally). I have a pool and whenever anyone comes over to swim, it just seems to be an expectation that I'll pull out the blender and make margaritas! Ole!! Of course, if it's REALLY good, I'll get out the cheap stuff when there's a crowd and save the good stuff for myself. :>) Phyllis (I love the scale and progress bar on your emails) Re: My Mexico experience Tammy, lol your so silly! , Caprise, and Ruby stayed at the hospital while Ingrid and I adventured out. Guest guest
The tequila is in a tall red or blue bottle and it say's Anejo Tequila Corralejo. Don't ask me what that means cause I have no clue what so ever lol. All the witting is in Spanish but the guy at the liquor store said that the red bottle is aged for 18 months and the blue bottle aged for 8 months so I would recommend the red bottle. Personally I can't stand tequila except in margaritas. I decided to consume a large amount one night with my ex-husband and woke up the next morning naked and on the floor lol. Not knowing what happened or where my clothes were. From what I hear tequila has done that to many others so I'm not the only one lol. Hope you can find a bottle. Guest guest
Tammy, good idea! About protein drinks - I went to Trader Joe's today and bought two brands. I haven't tried either yet. One is Met Rx which a coworker of mine says she really likes a lot. You can use up to 3 scoops for a "shake" and that totals 46Gm protein, 2Gm fat, and 7 Gm carb. I notice the directions say to mix the 3 scoops with 12-16 oz of water or milk. I don't think any of us can drink that much for a meal, so the carbs and protein will end up being less per serving. The other I plan to try is Aria "women's protein". I think I goofed on this one. Says mix 2 scoops with 1/4 - 1/3 cup of water, milk, juice or yogurt, stir, then drink right away. Purpose is to supply plent of protein from soy and whey sources. 14 Gm protein, 1 Gm fat, and 3 Gm carb (and 2 of those are fiber). I'll post again once I have tried them. Guest guest
Karlie, OK, I'll try to keep my clothes on! lol I don't like tequila except in margaritas also. I tried shooters once, with the lime and salt, on the hand - all that. Couldn't get drunk - it was too disgusting to continue. I was WAY younger when I did that. Oh, I forgot, on a sunset boat ride referred to as the "booze cruise" in Cabo San Lucas, I was offered a shot of tequila by one of the guys on the boat. I said "OK", he lifted my chin and started pouring. I swallowed most but some dribbled down my chin - and my dear friend made a point of getting a picture of that! OK - I wasn't young this time - it was last year. LOL!! Thanks for the info on the ticker. I'll look into after I finish my taxes and couple other things. Guest guest
Okay Phyllis, Let me know after youve tried them if there any good. I did go to wall mart today and I was looking for the met ex but couldnt find them So I did buy Atkins and EAS. I will try one in the morning and I will let you know if they are any good. I know someone mentioned these brands and said they thought they were good. The items I ordered from bariatriceating .com have shipped and they said I should have them by the 10th. I ordered some shakes, bars and I think some low calorie, carbs cookies. We will see. Talk To You Soon!! Tammy Irish
Guest guest
I picked up a 4 pack of protien shakes from a local grocery last night. Carb Solutions is the manufacture. It is ready to drink...no mixing. 21g of protein....1g sugar. Actually it tastes pretty good. It is 11 fl. oz. "Phyllis D." <tobygirl5@...> wrote: Tammy, good idea! Guest guest
, I'm sorry you still feel so bad. Boy, you were miserable Monday. I'm still experiencing more pain than I expected. It's only the one incision for the gallbladder. You saw those God-awful stones! Dr. A. had to make a big cut to get that honker of a GB out! Mom really enjoyed meeting you and spending time with you. She has asked me about you each day when she's called. I'll be glad to report you've checked in! You didn't tell me Tammy left you a note. Sorry you didn't get to meet her. She's quite a good lady! Oh, I just got interrupted by a knock on the door. I almost didn't answer because I look so ratty. (to go out for a walk with TobyGirl, I wore a jacket over my "sleepshirt" and wore a stars and stripes baseball cap and sunglasses to "hide". Anyway, I answered and was greeted with a gorgeous bouquet of flowers - from my boss! (another wonderful doctor, I might add). Anyway, glad you checked in, . Keep in touch. The posts I've been reading since I got home have been incredibly helpful for those of us in our first days of banding. Take care. Phyllis My Mexico Experience Hi Phyllis & Everyone,Today is this first day I have been on the computer since my surgery on 4/22/06. I am still sore & a little tired and I am so sick of broths that I don't even want to eat, but other than that my experience has been wonderful. I don't think I ever been treated so well in my life. Phyllis, our ride to the airport was quite an experience!!! You & your mom are such great ladies and I am so glad we finally met even if it was on the last day. I also wanted to thank Tammy I for leaving such a sweet note in Ernesto's car for me, I just wish we could of met. A.
Guest guest
Hi , I am glad you got my note to you. I wish I could of met you too. I am struggling today alot with broths, broths and more broths!! I have veared off the beaten path as one might say today. I have not been a good girl. Lets see, I have had a tootsie pop, some shells that I made the family for dinner and I am kicking myself right now for it!! I have been doing really well and today it got to me. I seem to have a tougher time as the days go by. I am trying not to beat myself up over it. I havent had any PBing and maybe thats the problem!! It all has went down nice and smooth! So tomorrow is a new day and hopefully it will be better than today. Tammy I. DOB-4/20/06 goes everywhere you do. Get it on your phone. Guest guest
// I have not been a good girl.// It's OK. You are forgiven. Now start over :-) //I have had a tootsie pop, some shells // Again, its alright, just dont do it again. // I am kicking myself right now for it!! // At least you know you were not supposed to do it. We have all kicked ourselves at one time or another. Dont dwell on your slip. Nobody's perfect. //I have been doing really well and today it got to me.// We all have bad days but if you have more good days then bad, you know you are doing alright. // I seem to have a tougher time as the days go by.// Yes it is tough. I had to find a hobby to keep me busy because I could not eat when i was bored. I tried crochet but i could only make a straight line. I couldn't figure out how to go back and forth to make anything so i gave it up. I did find Cross Stitch which i now LOVE. I am now a cross stitch addict but i guess thats better then a food addict. //I havent had any PBing and maybe thats the problem!! // That is because you do not have a fill. There is no restriction so you can eat and you will be hungry. 7/18/05 280/190/

Guest guest
Hi , Well today has been better for me. It is 11:34am and I havent ate yet. I am just now starting to get hungry though. I had a cup of tea this morning and then about an hour and a half went to Starbucks with my sister and had a Chai Tea SMALL ONE!!! I ALWAYS get a Venti Nonfat Latte!! So this was BIG for me!! LOL When I came home I did end up with some serious diarrhea again (sorry Everyone). I thought it was from the broths but apparently not. I do think that I have drank too much though because I have that pain in my chest again. So I am not going to eat yet and wait a little while. Maybe some of the others have some advice for us newly banded about the hunger issues. Is it normal?? Should we be doing something differently?? Hang in there ! We'll get through it! Tammy I.
