I agree, we had dinner there the night before my surgery!!!! It did kind of throw me when the young Chinese girl showed us to our table when I said thank you she bolted to find someone who spoke English as she spoke Spanish!!! Great food! Caprise, I know what you mean. I love many different Chinese dishes, but now that I'm on "liver shrinking" low carb diet, all I can think about (Chinese) is chow mein! PD

Hi Phyllis, So, Do you think your liver is shrinking yet?? I dont think mine is!!!! I started writing everything down today to see it on paper about how much protein I am getting and carbs. I couldnt believe it though. For lunch today I had a cottage cheese cup w/fruit, a yogurt and a EAS protein drink. The Yoplait yogurt had like 19 g of carbs!! I thought to myself, for 19 gms of carbs I could of probably had some kind of more fullfilling lunch entree!!! I am really trying to get high protein and stay within 40-50 carb grms. Pretty tough!! So I went and got the EAS protein shakes and the Atkins shakes at Walmart. My personal choice is the Atkins because they seem to be alot thicker and more filling than the EAS ones. They both taste good but the EAS to me are a little watery. If It doesn't stop raining here I think my outdoor pool is going to become an indoor pool!! It has now

been filled to the top and draing out onto the patio. I know, I know, some of you are all thinking those Californians are complaining about a little rain!!!! We really do have great weather here most of the time. We are going to selling our home here soon and move to Nevada this summer. My kids are not happy campers about this at all!! My 18 year old is I think finally getting a reality check!! Time to grow up!! And my daughter (bless her heart) doesnt want to leave her friends. I do feel bad about that. Okay, My jaw is flappin again!!! Tammy I.

Tammy. I can only hope that chubby liver is shrinking. In the last 24 hours I've "chatted" with Nina 2 or 3 times and have seen my primary care doctor. Bottom line - looks like Nina will be arranging for my gallbladder to come out the same time I am banded. I know insurance will pay for that if I have it done here, but what a wonderful way to deal with what is definitely going to be a future problem, by getting it done by Dr. Aceves. She's going to check on the additional cost. I took out a home equity loan to pay for the surgery, then start getting some things done around the house. I may just have to cross a couple of things off my list to pay for the GB surgery, but it'll be worth it.

My pool isn't overflowing and we've had horrendous rains. I'm 60 miles north of San Francisco (Santa ). Where are you? My pool guy wants the filter run for several hours a day, and the water circulates through the spa which is elevated, forming a waterfall. I think I get a lot of evaporation, even in the cold, wet weather, and probably lose water between the rocks. My water bill doesn't get much lower in the winter!

That's tough on kids - to move away from friends. They're so convinced they'll never make new ones. Let me know when you move to Reno. I try to get there a couple of times between late spring and early fall. PD

Hi Phyllis, My liver doesnt feel like its shrinking!! My scale isnt telling me that its shrinking either!! Have you lost any weight on the protein diet??? Are you having gallstone pains?? I was in so much pain when I had them. Thats wonderful though that Dr. A is going to do that surgery for you also. I wonder if Dr. A does liposuction?? Once we all lose all this weight we are going to need to be vacuumed out!! So we are definantly moving this summer. We are moving to Las Vegas, Nevada though. I love Reno and that is where my wonderful mother and father in law live ( I really am serious, they are wonderful!!) but all my family is here in California except one brother who lives in Arizona. I dont want to be too far from them. Its about a 4 1/2 hour drive from Los Angeles to Las Vegas or to fly its only like 50 minutes. So I am in Los Angeles County and I

actually live in Chatsworth which is in The San Valley. Lots and lots of people here!!!! Too Many!!! Tammy Irish

Tammy, sorry, I misread or made an assumption. Reno is lots closer to where I live (of course). I like Las Vegas when you get away from the all the strip activities and out into the "countryside". I can't really "feel" my liver shrinking, but I'm now very focused on the high protein. Since I may be having the GB out, Nina told me to just eat protein. I was having green veggies, salad, apples. So, I'm sticking with lean meat, yogurt in cartons and smoothies (the carb and sugar control Dannon I had mentioned). So much for birthday cake and champagne. Dad's BD is 14th, mine's 15th and Mom and I love to drink our champagne! I'm torn these days now that my brother is so into his family, he spends a lot more time with us when I visit. He wants me to try his latest "find" in the red wine arena and Mom wants a champagne buddy - so - alas - I have to drink with both of them! LOL I have lost what I believe is 7 pounds. The battery in my scale pooped out and I didn't replace it until this past weekend. I went on a cruise in August and lost 4 pounds and don't think I ever put it back on. My top weight, which I call my "Personal Worst", was 284 (ooh, that's the first time I ever told anyone!) and after the cruise it was 280. My new scale shows me at 272.2 this morning and the old scale shows 273, so I guess the wt. loss is real, not just the result of changing scales. I'm amazed at how much better I feel already. Less joint pain, taking less Advil and no Vicodin. I even got out of my car this morning without groaning and trying to keep my belly from honking the horn! Then, I actually had a spring in my step and was looking forward to working today! That was after playing "chase" with Toby this morning and making a mad dash to the phone at 7:15. That would normally have me

sitting down to rest for a while! I know much of it is in my head - I'm moving in a positive direction and feel much better about myself. Guess I should start working. A lot of good it does to come in early then not work. Ha!! I'll check in with ya'll tonight. Phyllistammy irish <tammyntod@...> wrote: Hi Phyllis, My liver doesnt feel like its shrinking!! Wow, Phyllis,

What a great idea!!! You probably won't pay much more

than you do with insurance here in the states after

paying for all the add ons, etc. they tend to put on

the bill that insurance " doesn't cover " . You may be

laid up a bit longer but maybe the 2 weeks of liquids

will be easier! LOL. The Isopure is a protein drink.

I think Gatorade is fine to drink after surgery but it

doesn't have as much protein, I don't think. I never

liked Gatorade that well and it was impossible to

drink for me after surgery! Isopure (the clear kind)

is nasty tasting to me (my daughter and I think it

tastes like manure smells!) plus it is pricey.

Penny, actually, GB surgery here wouldn't cost me a penny. I work for a health system and we're covered by a "self-insured" program. If I use one of our hospitals, there's no copay and they cover 100% of hospital, doctors, etc. But, if it's not significantly more costly, it does make sense to get it done now. Guess for 2006 taxes I'll be able to deduct medical expense - between the lapband and Curves, that adds up to a lot! Thanks for the info on Isopure - I think I'll pass. I've had enough manure-like crap in my dieting days. I definitely like the idea of the premixed protein drinks, keeping some on hand at work, no mixing mess to contend with. Thanks again. PD

Hi Phyllis, Your doing great!! I havent lost a darn thing!! Since i scheduled the surgery I have gained 7 pounds and I can totally feel it. I am trying to stick with the program but tonight I had Chinese food. I think it was all the talk on here about chinese food in Mexico!! LOL So you have a birthday coming up too!! The 15th is my Mother In Laws B-ay also. Cant forget that day!! TAXES-- UUGGHH!!! We always have to pay the piper but this year its gonna be really bad!! We are putting our accountant on hold until we absolutely have to go in!! I am a sweet drink drinker. I love strawberry margaritas, pina colada, long island iced teas. I dont like the taste of champagne or wine much. So you are no longer eating greens at all?? Except for tonight (i messed up) I have been drinking protein drinks, yogurt but it has 19 grams of carbs, cottage cheese, string cheese and turkey/chicken. But I am finding that I

am having a problem....I will whisper it to you.....i am having trouble going to the bathroom if you know what i mean. SSSHHHHH....Dont tell anyone. Are you having the same issue or is it just me?? So Yes, I dont tell anyone my weight but we are all buds here and after reading Sheris post of 100 pounds down in 8 months which is incredible!! I am at 245 and miserable. I am short too. Only 5' 2" tall. But in due time we will all be able to brag which is a good thing about how much weight we have lost!!! It's Okay to toot your own horn on here!!!! Tammy, it sounds like you are "nervous eating" right now, like someone else mentioned on here today. I felt like binge-ing the other day. I just couldn't stop thinking about food. So, I ate an EXTRA low fat-low carb yogurt and a piece of cheese and drank a bunch of Crystal Light. Wow - what a binge! It really helps getting everything out of the house that's taboo. Hard for people with families, but I live only with Toby and she eats food I'm not especially interested in.... Although, a couple of weeks into full liquids, her "rabbit and potato" formula canned dog food might just start lookin' gooooood!! lol

The yogurt I have found recently, both carton yogurt and yogurt smoothies, is Dannon Light and Fit/Carb and Sugar Control. I haven't been to Albertson's in a while. It seems to be the only place I can find "fat free, sugar free" yogurt. It's a store brand. In fact, I think I just talked myself into running to the store today to some. Albertson's has such great flavors in the FF,SF - like pina colada, key lime pie, mmmmm. PD

Shih Tzu is such a cute dog. There are so many little ones that are just so adorable. I'm addicted to Animal Planet and the Eukanuba and West Minster dog shows. I always get interested in the dog shows when they have the Toy division.

Toby's up here on the desk; her usual location when I'm on the computer. A few times I've taken her to work on Friday, when I'm leaving early and going out of town and don't want to go back up to Santa first. She sits on my desk on a folded blanket. Cracks people up when they pop in and realize something's breathing on my desk! Love our babies!! PD
