Hi!

An NSV is a non-scale victory. That's like a you fit into a pair of

jeans, or someone can tell you've lost weight. It's not measured in

pounds!

Hi Gloria...not to worry we all at one time or another asked what a certain acronym meant..there are so many!!! NSV means non scale victory. You know...those moments that we feel such victorious feelings of having achieved something that the scale has NOTHING to do with, but that are another notch in our weightloss journey.

Kelli, sorry to

hear about you and your bf. Yes, I have read a lot about that sort of thing

happening. In fact, I think they have a forum for it on OH, not sure though.

Sorry again.

On the other

note, CONGRATS On the size 22!! I know that is a huge accomplishment for you

and how much it means to get into a smaller size. You go girl!

I am so stoked!!! I went into Walmart a couple of days

ago to buy

some shorts and tshirts to work out in and I am in size 22 with room

to spare!!! I also picked up this really cute shirt that was there

and it was a size 18, and I thought " Oh I can't fit that now, but I

want it for later " so I grabbed it and as I was walking I got

curious to see how it would fit, so I went in and put it on and low

and behold...it fit perfectly...even with room to spare!!!! I am

just so darn happy about it, and I bought 22/24 capris they are

baggie on me in places...only part that is hard to lose is the belly

but I joined a gym and soon will have a cute trainer to help me lose

that area as well. So, I am happy and pleased with my results and I

look forward to losing more. ON a SAD note...my bf and I split, not

sure if I am becoming one of the statistics where those who have had

WLS have left their mates...not saying that this will happen to

everyone but there are articles on this very thing. I am sad, but

for right now I just have too much going on with my life to have to

deal with a OVERLY NEEDY person, he whined all the time when I

didn't spend time with him...hello, work 40hrs and doing my thesis

on top of that...hardly anytime for me! Anywho, sorry to rant about

it....I've decided life is too short, and I need to get my life in

order, especially my health. Maybe I can salvage a friendship, then

maybe not...who knows, but I need to keep plugging away!

Thanks ...it's been tough, especially working the job that I do,

I could use his support right about now. However, I was the one that

had said things and I take the blame for it...though would be nice

if he understood the stress I am currently under...anywho, thanks

for the kind words! :)

, that's really cool. Heck, let her think you've "kept it together" all these years! I have a reunion coming up next Spring. I hope I am a very good girl and lose my weight before then. It would be such a great feeling. I almost skipped my 20 yr reunion because of my weight. I ended up having a good time, but this one is (gulp) 40 years. I hate to show people I just kept getting bigger! Especially since I wasn't fat in high school! Congratulations on your NSV, . Phyllis

Nsv

It's been a while since I've posted. I've kept up with all of you bandsters out there. I was banded on 12/15/05. So, it has all been so new to me as I read everyones experiences. I got my own NSV this past Memorial holiday. I went back home to visit and I went to see a friend that I hadn't seen in over 9 years. She's a very slim cute woman always has bseen so, I was so reluctant to see her. For fear that i would look like an Ogar in comparsion to her. However, that didn't happen. When I saw her the 1st thing she said was we're the only ones that remained small all of our other friends are huge. I can't beleive how great you have maintanied yourself over all these years with children. She just going on and on. I wanted to tell her about the band, but I really didn't need to it was my reality regardless of how I was before my band Genesis. It was the 1st time I realized how much my life has changed. I just wanted to share.183/140/? Vinson

, your post nearly brought me to tears! I'm so proud of you! 107

lbs, girl! A size 26 to a 16! That's just fabulous. You WILL get

through the plateau, and soon we'll be seeing more pics of you

shrinking away.

Don't you feel fantastic to be free of the " Uh oh, I'm too fat

for this " worries? I remember once I was at Knott's Berry Farm with a

boyfriend, and I wanted to go on the parachute ride togehter. So

we're waiting in line and we get up there and there's a big sign

posted that said " weight limit 380 lbs. " . I could see the anguish on

my boyfriend's face, torn between telling me that they probably

wouldn't let us both in the parachute together, or not saying

anything and having me be devasted and humiliated when I was put in a

parachute by myself, with people in line laughing at me as I went up

alone (it was a mean bunch that day). And there I was, too

embarrassed to admit that if he weighed over 120lbs (HA), we weren't

gettin' on that freakin ride together. Oh, to not have to worry about

those things anymore... thank you Dr. A! In the end, we did get in

the parachute together, but man, the anxiety alone was enough to give

me a migraine.

NSV to share with you. This summer we went up to Yosemite, we camped

and had tons of fun. While we were there we did some hiking and

guess what I did it without any huffing and puffing. My kids and

hubby were very proud of me. My second NSV was we went to Magic

Mountain before returning back to Arizona, and guess what I didn't

stress before going on the ride. Usually I would sit in line and

compare me to other people and think to myself well if that person

fits on the ride I can too. I would sit there and ask my husband or

kids am I that big, just to get an idea of how big I really was. I

would think well if that person can fit on the ride why can't I, but

for me not to go through that embarrasement I would chicken out and

get out of line. No this time I went on every

is it because you fit now. I said yup, and I'm so darn proud of

myself. It's been a year an a couple of month since surgery and I

went from a size 26 to a size 16. I feel fabulous, but in need of a

fill. Gabby doesn't have opening for the 18 so I will be in Mexicali

getting my fill on September 8. New bandsters, be patient the weight

will come off, you will think to yourself what have I done, is this

worth it. I thought the same thing at the beginning now I have no

regrets at all. I love my band. Give yourself time you will loose

weight and there are time you will hit plateau, but when you do there

is NSV took look forward to. Be patient, it will happen.

One word for this: Fantastic! From: vanessa bobo <vjbobo2003@...>Subject: NSV Date: Tuesday, September 2, 2008, 9:39 AM

I had a neat NSV last Saturday. I was at Dillard's looking at bathing suits (on sale for 75% off!) and the sales lady came up to me and said " you are in the pluz sizes, I don't think they will fit you!" I had not even noticed the sizes, but I was shocked that she didn't think I needed a plus size, because I always feel everyone still looks at me like a pluz size person! It is funny how are self image doesn't change as fast as our bodies do! Any way I bought a size 10 swimsuit!!!! !
