Guest guest
Girl, we are just too alike! You may be allergic to the tape. I am but the paper tape is the best one to use. The other tapes accually give me blisters! It would seem that the other incisions would do the same thing but you might just be more sensitive around the port incision because of the oozing. Change the tape everyday and put a cotton cosmetic pad on top of the tape and tape on top of it to absorb the ooze. When you can take out the stiches and remove that tape things will get better. Good luck Tammy A. > > Hi All, > > Have a question. Guest guest
I am not even sure WHERE my port is...I thought it was kinda on the side but I don't think its there. I think mine is about 3 inches above my belly button. (that is my biggest cut)...is that where they are supposed to be?? Mine was healed by 10th day. I am so sorry Tammy you are having that problem....... Re: Itching/welts Girl, we are just too alike! You may be allergic to the tape. I am but the paper tape is the best one to use. Guest guest
Has anyone heard from Stacey, the young lady who had the gastric bypass just before Tammy I, Ginger and others were there? Jeannette (Michigan) and I met Tammy as well as Stacey and her good friend on the day we arrived for preop testing. She did great for such a big surgery, including a gallbladder surgery. If you're out there reading, kiddo, check in!! Jeannette, have you checked in at least to read? Let us know how you are doing, too, OK?? Phyllis Re: Itching/welts Girl, we are just too alike! Guest guest
Hey , It's Vivian. Glad to hear you're doing so well. Your right about the port incision. It's the largest one, and closest to your belly-button. I'm taking my port stitch (the last one) out today! That means you'll be taking yours out tomorrow? Best wishes to you. Keep in touch! Guest guest
Hi Tammy, I think I am allergic to the tape. My Husband bought a different kind than Dr. A used and I change them everyday after my shower. I had only noticed all the reaction around my port incision but it is actually under all my other tapes and hasnt spread out like it has around my port. Today I decided to just use bandaids. I did put a piece of gauze under my port bandaid because it is still oozing a little bit. Not bad anymore!! Si I just looked at my stomach (oh what a site to see!! LOL) and already it seems to be better. So Thank You!! Tammy I. DOB-4/20/06 248/237/130 Messenger with Voice. PC-to-Phone calls for ridiculously low rates. Guest guest
Tammy, You did the right thing. Some persons are allergic to the tape. You can either leave it as it is and just wash over it normally with soap and water, or put the other kind of tape over it. The draining of the port incision is normal too, the gauze will protect your clothes. Please do not put anything on it. The liquids needs to get out, the incision is healing from the inside out, it will stop in a few days. Nina > > Hi Tammy, > > I think I am allergic to the tape. Guest guest
Hi Nina, I have been putting neosporin on all my incisions!! I Guess that is a no-no?? Okay, I will not do this anymore. I thought it would help them heal faster. Tammy I. DOB-4/20/06 New Messenger with Voice. Call regular phones from your PC and save big. Guest guest
Hey Tammy, Wanted to post and let you know that you're NOT alone when it comes to the welts/itching!!! I had them SO bad that it looked like a 3rd. degree burns. I used burn cream and stayed away from hot water-like sitting in the bathtub-take showers, it REALLY helped me. The hot water drys them out and the itching gets REALLY bad. I was scratching in my sleep... It still took it a long time to go away-I still have somewhat of a scar from them, but hey it could always be worse.. Put vaseline on them to help keep them moist, just make sure you clean them a couple of times a day, it's what I did.. Don't worry they will heal and go away.. hugs, Donnaband06 > > Hi All, > > Have a question. Guest guest
Thank You Donna. I have noticed that when I get in the shower every morning they burn really bad when the water hits them. I will try the vasoline and see how that works for me. I stopped using the tape and they seemed to clear up a bit but tonight they are itching like crazy. Tammy I. Guest guest
Hi , My port is right above myy belly button too. I think that is where Dr. A puts all of them. I have stopped using the tape my husband bought me a couple days ago and I see some relief finally!! It was bad!! And it actually hurt when water would touch my stomach. Talk to ya soon, Tammy I. Guest guest
I'm glad the itching and welts are getting better. I've been lucky in that regard. And it feels really good to take a hot shower. My only problem in the shower is making sure Toby doesn't scratch me to death (I bathed her during my shower the day she was to go to the Vet). She's not fond of bathing and all four legs and paws flail wildly. She also hates the swimming pool. Just not a water dog, I guess! Guest guest
You no I have never had the shoulder pain. Maybe I should not say that or I will jinx myself. I have decided now to keep all my incisions uncovered exept for my port because it seems to still be draining a bit. I still have the redness where the tape was but the itching for the most part is gone. Poor Toby!! From the sounds of it I think she has a very rough life!! LOL Tammy I. Guest guest
Oh, yeah, she suffers. Center of attention, looks at me with sad eyes and gets whatever she wants. She's only asked me to play "chase" once since I got home and when I took her little alligator and threw it, she was cool with changing the game to "throw and fetch". When I sit down, she's right there. Right now, instead of being on top of the desk, she is right here between my feet! Yeah, poor Toby. lol Re: Re: Itching/welts You no I have never had the shoulder pain. Maybe I should not say that or I will jinx myself. Guest guest
Hi Nydia, I am driving myself nuts also. I am going to try and only weigh myself on Saturdays because its making me crazy!! We are all I think food-aholics. That is why we need to find some other things to do with ourselves instead of eating. Have you found a support group in your area where you can go to?? I looked last night for one in my area and I couldnt find anything. I found groups for people who were banded here in the states but no others. I promised myself today that tomorrow I am going to DEFINANTLY start exercising!!! I had to do some self talk!! LOL Tammy I. Guest guest
Hi Nydia, You are doing great. You have lost 13 pounds!! I am more focused as of yesterday. I am keeping track of everything I am eating. I have been doing the treadmill. I also have the abs lounger and I have been doing that and it hasnt bothered me. Go slow and see how you feel. Did you take out your port stitch yet?? I talked to Nina and she said for me to keep my stitches in that incision until I stop draining. Somedays I drain more than others but I always have to keep a bandaid on so it doesnt go all over my clothes. I am going on June 10th also!! So we get to be banding and fill buddies!!LOL I am really looking forward to getting a fill because I too could eat a horse!! When you and your Husband drove in did you have any problems?? My Husband is going to come with me but he is nervous about going into Mexico. We are going to make a weekend out of it and stay in San Diego then go home on Sunday. I hope your having a good weekend and I will talk to you soon! Tammy I. __________________________________________________

Guest guest
Good Luck with that. I have to start exercsing because I am stuck with my weight loss at 12 pounds. I have not lost anymore pounds since mid last week. I am not sure if it is because my body is stravation mode or what, but I am starting to get more and more hungry and I feel I can just eat anything. We had a family get together this past Sunday and let me tell you Tammy is was a little hard seeing everyone indulge with food, just because my hunger levels are start to get higher and higher, but I survived becuase all my family says you can tell I looked like I am starting to loose a good amount inches and my huge stomach I had ( still have but not as huge)!! So that was my strength that day. But I am not going to lie I hate these cream soups too, I can not wait to get some type of solid foods.I just look forward to Jamba Juice!! Anyway keep intouch and let's start burning some fat. Nydia P.S. Two more days for it to be our 3 week anaversay!! NYDIA DE DIOS <nydiatdc@...> wrote: Tammy I am going to start exercsing today. So good luck to you with the exercising.
