Hi Dana

I'm really glad you told us about that. I will have my first fill in mid April

so this is really

important to me. What size is your band? Is it 9.75? The lady who is going to

do my fill

says that Dr. A uses that size A LOT! Ha ha , she guessed it before I told her.

I wonder

how a 1.3 cc fill would be. How much can you eat now with the 1 cc? Do you feel

satisfied?

Yea, these hospitals.....don't they keep up with the latest procedures? DUH!

I was wondering how many cc's the lap band holds. I think I will have my first fill in Mexico with Dr. A. Just in case there are any problems. Besides next time I go back I will have my hubby with me and maybe we can tour around a little bit.

Hi , Yea, I have a 9.75cc band. I am only able to drink since thursday's unfill, but I think I am still a little swollen. I might try some thin cream soups ect. tomorrow. I'm not hungry at all, just always wanting to drink something. I think 1.3cc might be a good starting point, you may even be able to take more just make sure you can hang around a while to make sure everything is ok with swallowing. Good luck, let me know how it goes:) Dana

Hi Dana

I guess we must have " sensitive " stomachs! Mine

swelled like that after surgery and I could hardly

drink or swallow. It took a day or two before It

happened too so I was long gone from Mexicali! Then

it happened with my fills too but not quite as extreme

as yours. It took a few weeks to get back into an

eating routine. The liquids that Dr. A recommends

after fills will work best for awhile.

Good luck and happy weight loss!

Hi Kelli! Congratulations on your 60 pounds gone forever!!! You are probably right...You have probably lost 65 pounds. I like to weigh myself in the morning because by noon the scale says something else! Although right now I dont want to even look at a scale!!! Its to bad you didnt get to visit with some of the new bandsters. That would of been nice. Tammy I.

//I was banded July 18th and wanted to know if it was possible to have

my first fill at 5 weeks? //

It all depends on the Dr. Some dr's have fills at 4 weeks and other 6

weeks. I believe Dr A recommends 6 weeks.

I had my first fill at 4 weeks.

I just noticed we share a band birthday.

Good Luck with your fill.

Hi Debbie, I was banded 7/6/06 and I immediately got a fill appointment for Aug.4th I'm so glad I did, cuz I need it and another thing to consider is the fact that most of the fill folks are booking a month out at a time. Wishing you much luck. Debbeewithbird <beewithbird@...> wrote: Hi Bandster Buddies!I was banded July 18th and wanted to know if it was possible to have my first fill at 5 weeks? The reason I ask is that the closest fill

doctor for me is in the Dallas area, which is about a 6 hour drive. I have a planned business trip in Dallas Aug. 24th and 25th and thought while I was there I could get my first fill! Thanks, Debbie

you should be on their payroll...how many hours should there be between drinking/eating and the fill?

// It feels like when I eat meat such as chicken it gets stuck in my

throat and there is so much pressure//

Chicken gets stuck with me too.

I can eat any meat but chicken.

// I chose not to eat things that causes the pain so I eat soups

and soft foods//

This is called " soft food syndrome " if you do not stop, you will

gain weight.

Soft food goes right through the band and does not keep you full for

any amount of time. This results in you eating more. Soft foods

typically have a lot of calories too.

// Is this ok or should I beable to eat reg foods //

If you can not eat regular food you need an unfill.

You may need to learn to chew better.

//I sometimes think I might be tooooo full but I would rather be

toooo full and not eat than to beable to eat and regain//

Wrong way to think. This is the best way to cause your band to

slip. It is worse to be too tight then too lose.

There is someone on this board who had her band slip because she

didn't want to have an unfill. It is cheaper to pay for an unfill

then a revision.

You probably don't want to hear this but you are going about this

the wrong way. If you do not learn to use the band properly, you

will either not lose weight or you will lose weight and gain it

back.

You have to learn to eat again.

You should be eating regular food that is nutritious.

I don't know if there is an amount of time.

I think that you are not supposed to eat the day of the fill (before

the fill). You can eat after the fill but you are usually on a liquid

diet for a day or 2.

Thanks I am definetly not eating high calorie food But you are right I dont seem to be full for long I think thats Mental and I choose to have the willpower to stay away from the foods But it gets difficult I will be very careful and decide what I need to do I dont want a slippage thats for sure thanks again and good luck Leona NANCY <nancy8887@...> wrote: // It feels like when I eat meat such as chicken it gets stuck in my throat and there is so much pressure//Chicken gets stuck with me too. Kira,

It was great meeting you and thank you so much for telling me it "was a breeze". When I got on the platform and Dr A put the ring on my stomach I was really tense. He asked me if I had talked to any of the women who just had the fill done. I said yes I had talked with Kira. He said "what did she say". I said "yes, she said it was a breeze". He told me to stop worrying and I really did.

You are right it was sooo smooth. I say to all those who have not had a fill yet...make sure you go to someone who knows what they are doing...it makes a world of difference. I never even saw the needle.

It was a great time. I told my husband it was like being at cheerleading camp. Made me more determined to get the weight off. It was great talking to all the others and finding out how they are doing.

Kira, It was nice meeting you yesterday. I also had alot of fun! We had a very happy group of ladies ( yes, loud and noisy too). We really enjoy the fills days I do hope more patients can come down for fills. September 2nd is the next date, we only have 2 patients scheduled so far so there is still plenty of room. and we will see you then. Nina megan8797 <kshosho@...> wrote: Hi,I just got back

Hi ,

I had my first fill one month ago, and it did take awhile to "kick in". I went a couple of days on liquids, then pretty much went back to eating as I had before the band (read:too much). I was wondering if I the port had been missed (Dr. A. didn't do it, or I wouldn't even have thought that!) because I really didn't feel much different. Then one day about a week after the fill, it hit me hard. I ate some peanuts and they got stuck. I had to pull over and had my first PB experience on the side of a busy road. Not knowing that once it was over I needed to be gentle with the band the rest of the day, I took a couple of bites of chicken for lunch and thought I was gonna die. I nearly passed out from the pain and spent an hour in agony trying to get that chicken back up. Not trying to scare you, but just be sure to be cautious, cause it can sneak up on you and bite you in the butt when you least expect it!
