Hello...My name is Reonna and I'm from Kansas. I'm 29, married to , and we have three little boys...Corgan, 7, Zavery, 4, and Maddix, 2. I have been wanting to be banded for quite some time but I have a direct exclusion on my insurance policy. I've gone the route trying to get an added insurance and that doesn't look like it will work either because I'm still eligible for insurance (guess you have to be ineligible for any other type of insurance). Anyway, I want to get this done yesterday! But of course I don't have 9,000.00. I tried to fill out the financing but it won't accept it without a co-signer. I'm working on my mom on this, but I don't think she fully supports me going to Mexico. Does anyone know of any places that might finance someone with bad credit? We just bought a house last November, not sure how we could get financed for that if our credit is so bad...but, we did! We have another house that is almost paid off, but I don't know anything about equity or any of that business if I were to borrow against it. Anyone have any ideas?Reonna

Guest guest
Hi, Reonna. I took equity out of my house to pay for the surgery, but also took extra so I could do some "makeover" work on my house while I work on myself! If you refinance, you right back to mega interest and mini principal getting paid. An equity line of credit or an equity loan would be less money, paid off in shorter time. I went to E-Loan and was very impressed. They are connected with E-Trade where I have a brokerage account, but that is not a requirement. They have good rates and there's lots of room to negotiate. Just keep telling them the rate's too high, the terms aren't good enough, the fees are too much, you won't pay for this or that for a loan. Get them fairly close to the (virtual) handshake, then tell them you just can't do it for that rate or whatever. You do the application on line, someone calls, you exchange emails. It's pretty simple. I don't regret using home equity. And, I love my nicely cleaned up 1/2 acre lot, my new hardwood floors and getting my fence fancied up, tile shower repaired, etc. Best of luck to you. Phyllis New here-financial advice? Guest guest
Nina got me a hospital bill, itemized by the big items - surgeon, radiology. I found that even tho my insurance doesn't cover bariatric surgery, the plan allows me to go "out of network" if I desire, and I will have to pay a much bigger portion of the costs. This means that I won't have to pay 100% of it. I've been busy and lazy both, and haven't submitted the paperwork yet, but the insurance rep is a good friend of my good friend who works in HR, so I think she'll be patient with me. Also, for taxes, you can deduct whatever amount you've spent on medical, dental care over 2% of your adjusted gross income. Now is the time to save everything related to medical care, like prescription copays, mileage to appointments, etc., then add it all up, deduct 2% of your AGI and that's the amt you can claim on schedule A. I never do that part of Sched A because I've always been lucky enough to have good insurance. For 2006 tax return, I'll be doing it. Phyllis RE: New here-financial advice? Guest guest
Great idea Phyllis on the Re-Fi. I actually borrowed against my husbands 401K retirement fund for my daughter to be banded. When I was banded I borrowed from my Mother. Great payoff terms and No interest. What a deal! My girlfriend that was banded a couple of months ago got one of those 0% interest Visa offers in the mail. They sent checks to pay off or buy anything she wanted. She bought herself a band She can transfer the amount onto another low interest Visa when the rate goes up in 9 months. I thought that was very smart. She said she learned that trick from Oprah. Reonna, I hope some of these ideas help. Dr Aceves does also work with 2 finance companies. You can check them out too. I wish you the best and hope you can be banded very soon! Guest guest
That 0% Visa is a great idea. I borrowed the money, put it in the bank. Wrote a Visa check for my cashier's check so I could earn airmiles on my Visa, then paid it off with the loan money in the bank. I can do a lot with that many extra miles on my card!
