My first fill experience

Hi all,

I had my first fill about one month ago. I had my fill done locally

through FillCenterUSA.com. The gal who did my fill is a Physician

Assistant. She told me she had only been doing fills since November

of last year and was trained by a well known bariatric surgeon in WA

State. I was stuck about 6 times until she finally got into my port

and I was given a 2cc fill. I really felt like a pin cushion that

day and boy was I sore afterwards! One recommendation I would say to

you all is DO NOT get a fill the Friday before the holiday weekend.

My band was so tight by Friday night I was having a hard time even

swallowing my own spit. I remember reading posts about drinking hot

fluid so for the first 72 hours that is all I did. Eventually my

band loosened up and the past three weeks I have been doing OK. I

have only lost about 5 pounds since my fill and I am due to go back

next week. I don't know if I need another fill or not. There are

ALOT of things I try to eat but when I swallow I get lots of pain

like it is getting stuck. The pain comes in waves and then

subsides. I have not PB'd nor slimed just notice alot of pain when

swallowing most foods... except the soft stuff. Then there have been

a few days when I feel like I can eat alot of stuff with not alot of

problems. I guess I am confused and frustrated and not sure what to

do from here. I don't know if I need more fill or less fill? Any

advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hey Jen, I am afraid that I really can't give you much advise, since I have not had a fill yet...but from the sound of it, it may be smart to have some taken out...But let's wait to hear from the experts..... Where is this Fill Center USA? I am scheduled to have my first fill done at the same name, by a ARNP or a Nurse Practitioner...probably a physicians assist. They do not use Floro unless recommended....and that would be another day and another trip. The lady I spoke to sounded very nice on the phone, but not sure how much experience she has had and I am getting nervous....Do Not want to get stuck more then twice....and that should not be necessary if they really know what they are doing....Just wondering if this is the same place. I live in Florida and the Fill Center USA that I am referring to is in Clermont. You did not mention where you were from. I really don't think that we should be their paying practice

Hi - Fill Center USA is a national group that does fills

throughout the USA. I live in Boise, Idaho and had my fill done

locally in Eagle, Idaho. The Physician Assistant was also very nice

and so supportive of patients going to Mexico but I could tell she

has limited experience. The closest place to me that does fills with

fluoroscopy is in Washingtong State. If and when I need a fill or

unfill I will either go back to Dr. A or if I am unable to do that I

will go to Washington State and have it done under fluoroscopy. Good

Luck with your fill. I hope it goes well. I have heard great things

about some of the Fill Center USA places but I have heard horror

stories too. Let us know how it goes OK?

Thank you Jenn. I do appreciate your feedback. I still have the appointment set up for the 8th with Fill Centers USA, but have not filled out their on-line paperwork as yet. I called a doctor in Ft. Lauderdale Fl. today. They told me that the initial consultation and fill was $995.00, plus $150 for floro. All additional fills were $150.00.....OH MY GOSH!!!!!! This is getting worse and worse...That is what they are charging if you didn't get the fill from them. I am really wondering if this flat tire is ever going to get filled......!!!!! I have a couple of others to call, and will try them tomorrow. I Have a bit of a problem paying a physicians assist $300 for her to practice on me...I hate needles...and don't want to get stuck more then once, no less feeling like a pin cushion.......
