I slept the first day, but my the second day just normal sleep patterns. Hope this helps a little giftedtch <giftedtch@...> wrote: Ok....my time is getting here very quickly. Guest guest
I'll answer the few questions that I can: You should not eat applesauce until you are off the liquid phase of the post-op diet. If it is a pill you can crush, you might try to put it in a small amount of juice and swallow it that way (won't taste good!). If it is a medication does it come in liquid form?? Ask your Dr. I did not have trouble using my cell phone, I have T-Mobile, but Nina has said that Cingular (I think) does not always go through well. I did sleep most of the time and just enjoyed being lazy and watching the TV. It really doesn't seem like you are there for very long!! I would not have felt like walking after surgery. I actually got a wheelchair to use to get through the airports for the trip home. I tired VERY quickly and the walking at the airport would have done me in, especially making your way from one terminal to another to catch different flights. I arrived a day EARLY and did some sight seeing the day before going to Mexico. I went to the beach to see the Pacific Ocean and to the San Diego Animal Park. Hope this helps!! Ask away, this group is great and a big help!! Dianne 9/5/05 363/317/??? -- Questions for the Banded Folks Ok....my time is getting here very quickly. I will recieve my band this Thursday. Guest guest
Dianne, thank you for the responses to Jenni's questions. I found the information helpful as well. I have a question about all the gas troubles people have mentioned when flying home. Is it the altitude? Is it something that would happen if we stayed on the ground another day or two, or might waiting a day or 2 to fly cut down on the pain of the gas? Do you recommend the wheel chair idea at the airport for most of us? I'm 56, out of shape and SFO is so large. Thanks again. Guest guest
I have Cingular and didn't have one problem at all, I just called from my speed dial and it picked up. I have a Nokia though, so I wonder if it is the phone that matters. I know I used to have a Motorola and that thing was the worst! I'll always try to stick with Nokia they are good phones. Oh when I checked my bill, there were no long distance charges or international charges either I am happy cause I made alot of phone calls...lol > Ok....my time is getting here very quickly. Guest guest
Hello, I just got back from surgery and can tell you what I did. I come out of anestesia slow so I was the first operated on (out of 4) and the last one feeling better. I think I had a 24 hour delay or something. I stayed one night at the Best Western in San Diego after the surgery and was soooo glad I did. I had gas the whole time and it was painful. I did walk a bit (about an hour) through old town but could not do any more. At the airport I did fine. I still had gas but it wasn't as obvious or painful. I had a layover in Denver and caught the airport shuttle to go to the next gate and it was a lifesaver. I plan on posting about my experience later today, just hope this helps. Guest guest
Hi Phyllis I actually did not have a lot of problem with gas trouble. I did have a case of diarrhea and was nervous about the flight and having to try to fit in the airplane bathroom, but I didn't need to go. I don't think I would want to wait to fly home because my diarrhea got worse before it got better so I was glad to be home ASAP!! I was really glad to have the use of the wheelchair. I'm 50 and was 363 lbs. and had trouble walking very far prior to surgery. The airlines were very nice and accommodating. Walking after surgery is good for you, but I could not have made the trip through the airport to catch my second flight by myself. They also let you through the security line faster so you won't have to stand in line. I wasn't in a lot of pain, just really, really tired. I felt somewhat out of breath too, probably because of the gas from surgery taking up room from my lungs but no pain from that for me. Guest guest
Hi, Diane. Thank you for the additional information. I might break down and buy a "Depends" for the flight home in case I'm too slow getting to the restroom! I know what you mean about trying to fit into the restroom. Hardly room to turn around in those things! I am so looking forward to getting on a plane and NOT having to whisper to the flight attendant that I'm in seat # such and such and would she bring me a seat belt extender. I fly Alaska mostly and they are all very discreet, but it still feels really awful. Looks like you are moving right along with weight loss. Good for you!! I'll be anxious to watch your progress and share mine with you. Phyllis Questions for the Banded Folks Ok....my time is getting here very quickly. I will recieve my band this Thursday.
