Guest guest
I imagine most of you do find it creepy to take out stitches. I haven't quite figured out from the comments if the stitches are "running stitches" in which case you CAN snip the end and pull. Sometimes it's easier to have a series of individual stitches, then you don't have the option of pulling out a long, running stitch. What you can do, if it is actually a running stitch, is take your manicure scissors (unless they're the really pointed, sharp ones), cleanse them with alcohol, and snip along the suture line making smaller (shorter length) sutures. Then as you pull them out, they are just little short ones and not so creepy feeling. My plan is to get a disposable suture removal kit from the hospital and then ask my best friend (a surgical nurse) to take the stitches out. But if for some reason she isn't available when I'm ready, I plan to use the "short length" method I just described. I hope this helps. Phyllis Re: Removing stitches eeewww! Guest guest
it is a running stitch, but there are only the 2 ends sticking out...no way to get to the middle to make "short" stitches...but the longest one is just about 2" long anyway...it is no big deal to pull them. Guest guest
I think you all will be quite surprised that it doesn't hurt and they pull right out in the shower. I didn't even feel anything that way. They are one long stitch that I pulled out with tweezers in the shower. I am the worlds biggest boob and was scared until I did the first one. Guest guest
I just got back the end of Feb from taking my daughter to have breast augmentation. There is no problem at the borders. I had my passport with me but only needed my Ca drivers license. I don't know about Mexicali but in TJ , there can be quite a line. Just tell them you had surgery and they will usher you to the front of the line. Guest guest
Ohhhh - then you don't have any choice but to clip the end and pull the whole thing. Just take it slowly and carefully. As long as your incisions have healed, you can't get hurt (injured) - it may feel uncomfortable to take them out, but you can't really harm yourself. If you're really queasy and can't do it, you could go to a local clinic or urgent care center and ask them to remove the stitches. It's not too expensive to go that route. Whatever you do, don't go to an emergency room. They have to charge you for the use of "emergency services", even if you're only there for 5 or 10 minutes. It isn't pretty when you see the bill - $700-800!! Ouch - THAT hurts a lot more!!! Phyllis Re: Removing stitches eeewww! Just hearing about it makes me queasy! Guest guest
We weren't asked for any ID but if you are asked, your drivers license is all you need. I took my birth certificate but did not need it. I think they are used to Ernesto transporting patients over the border. Good luck and God Bless you for your surgery. I pray that your experience is as wonderful as everyone else in this group.
