I mean, the medical standard, earliest possible? Is there? Like, activation

is by standard is 30 days after surgery, but maybe earlier maybe later, but

on average, it's 30 days. I wonder if there's such thing for 2nd cochlear

implantation.

this varies from person to person for many reasons

Jerome,

I don't think there is an actual standard but I believe that if they

are not done at the same time, there is at least a 6 month wait

before the second one is done. This stands to reason as an

individual does need some time to adjust to the first one.

The normal time frame for activation after implant is 4-6 weeks but

more recently, we are seeing them done in 2 weeks as more surgeons

use the shorter incision which allows for faster healing.

Jerome-- I have answered this question before and I will answer again. The

minimum wait is 6 months between sequential implantation per guidelines unless

there is something contridactory to it like if the person had severe case of

menigititis and the cat scan shows severe ossification of both cochlea then the

suggestion would be to implant simultaneously or soon after. I think this is the

only exception to the rule of sequential implantation
