Guest guest
Today , for the first time since my hook up seven months ago, I decided to try my HA in the other ear. Oh boy! What a difference, voices finally sound real, more full. I really had decided not to wear my HA after my implant, and it was a pleasure not to have something stuffed in my ears for the first time in thirty years, but now I have to say that it really is much better when I use my HA. I am down to the last twelve of my so called " free one year supply " of batteries, my maps are in the red and my audie seems unable to remedy that, any ideas. I guess I go to the drugstore tomorrow and start pricing them. Can we write them off on our income taxes? in CA SeaAngel1@... postlingual, bilateral sensorineural hearing loss, 2 HA's since age 30 N24C August. 7 2002 . Hookup. BWP. Sept. 12 2002, 3G. Guest guest
Hi You are experiencing Bilateral hearing without having to go through surgery again!!Good for you!!Maybe now that you are getting help with your HA you will find that your cI does not need as much power and your battery life will get better.I don;t have to have my CI " S on as loud when I wear both as when I have only one on.I get good battery life with both.I received my 3G the middle of MAY and I still have batteries from the original supply..it will be very close to a full years use. Guest guest
Hi , No, everything is working well, just my maps should be able to be adjusted so that the battery drain is at least in the amber, and ideally in the green zone, but it has been in the red since hookup and literally eats up the batteries. I used my HA again today, and I am seriously thinking of getting a new smaller in the ear one, this one is six years old and I think that I could do even better with a new one, isn't it great! you have so much to look forward too a is probably going to join us on the 8th too, she has an appt. with Dr Byl next Wednesday and hopes to get her surgery date. yeah! hugssssssssssssss me
Guest guest
Hi Isobel, I am one of those people who have a little bit of hearing left in her unimplanted ear. I took that aid off while I was being hooked up that first day and I never put it back on...except for the day that I decided to give it away! I once went to an audiology conference and towards the end of the day, there began a discussion about whether the audies should be recommending that their CI patients wear their aids or not wear them. They were all very gracious to give me the opportunity to respond! Basically what I said was that although it may be true that by wearing an aid in the " other " ear the patient may not derive as much benefit from the CI as if the aid had not been worn, the MOST important factor is the comfort of the patient. Wearing the CI is a lifetime commitment so what is the big deal if the user would rather wear the HA for a while, or longer? Go with what makes you feel comfortable. How about a compromise? Wear the CI/HA when you feel like you would not be able to function otherwise (work, etc) but then only wear the CI at other parts of the day when you don't have any pressures on you. I have left off the HA thinking that my brain may work way harder without the assistance of the HA. Does this make any sense or am I doing without the HA needlessly. My audi didn't really have a whole lot to say about it one way or the other so I just thought maybe some feedback from you guys might help. Thanks Isobel
Guest guest
Hi.. I am trying to catch up on the emails, got over 150 to go yet. Someone might have already answered this but thought I would chime in. I have only had my processor since April 2 but want to let you know what both my doctor and audi told me about CI's and HA's. The doctor said to wait a bit before using the HA to let my brain get use to the CI and the audi told me when I was first hooked up that if I am going to be somewhere that I REALLY want to hear, just take off the CI and use my HA. Both agree that to use both would be great, that it was up to me. So I am planning to start back using the HA again next month after my second mapping. Hope this helps a bit :> susan & hobbes michigan At 11:17 PM 4/26/2004 +0000, you wrote: >Hi Folks, > >Looking for a little input from those of you who wear both a CI and >a HA.
