Then try to pull the splinter out with tweezers. If the splinter does not come out of the skin, sterilize a sewing needle, then use it to ease the splinter out. CAUTION: Do not dig too deep into the skin trying to remove splinters and never ignore splinters, for they can get infected. If the splinter is large or if it is glass, seek medical assistance. Herbal Treatment Use a Slippery Elm poultice made with Slippery Elm powder, which allows even stubborn splinters to be drawn out quickly and easily, or any other drawing salves, plantain is another which the indians used.
