Guest guest
O.K. To those of you who know: I ask this question. Under what ingredient is tanic acid listed under on a can of pop? I find phopshoric acid and citric acid. But, I always thought that oranges also had citric acids, or any orange product.....I don't find the words tanic acid anywhere so assume that it is listed under some other name. Just wondering. I assume that there may be other products with a hidden source of tanic acid if it comes under an alias. Just want to know.......thanks for info.... in Mo. Guest guest
I don't think tannic acid is in pop - it's the carbonation we cannot have. As far as I know, tannic acid is only in coffee and tea? I've asked the same questions about citric acid and tannic acid - I mean what's the difference if they're both acids? I never got an answer and couldn't really find anything on the internet about it. I think it's the way the body handles the tannic vs. the citric acid? I " m not really sure. Guest guest
I've heard it isn't the carbonation either because even if you let it go flat you are still not suppose to have it. It is my understanding that it is the phosphoric acid in the pop that we can't have. O > Re: Tanic acids > > > O.K. To those of you who know: I ask > this question. Guest guest
I'm not completely sure, but I think tannic acid is a normal component of cola syrup. As such, it would not be listed separately. Remember, it's not just the acid that is a problem for us, it is also the carbonation. We are supposed to avoid all carbonated beverages. Joanie 5/25/04 Drs. Guest guest
Phosphoric acid (which provides carbonation in soda) can eat metal, so they don't want it in your pouch. If you want to prove it, drop a penny or a nail in a jar of coke and wait a few days. I specifically asked at my clinic why tannic acid (tea and coffee) is verboten, while citric acid (orange juice) is ok. I don't remember the exact answer, but they are different acids so chemically they react with different things (high school chemistry). Tannic acid is another acid that will eat holes in your new pouch. Citric acid doesn't work that way. in Atlanta 06/03/04 O.K. To those of you who know: I ask this question.
