Dear ,

Being fairly new to this process, only 4 months post op today! I more then

appreciate your straight forward answers, you , Kathy and Jami have been an

inspiration and a great help to me. I am attributing my great results to

following the manual as closely as possible. I have many times wanted to

answer

a question with the question " HAVE YOU READ THE MANUAL? " Not because a

question is stupid or silly, but because having read the whole manual at least

4

times cover to cover plus having used the manual more times then I can count

since surgery to look up questions that I had or simply did not remember, you

can tell that there are some people who are skimming through the manual to

answer their patient letter questions and not looking back.

I personally do not believe in reinventing the wheel, Dr Rutledge has spent

countless hours of his personal time and research to put together a manual

that will help us be as successful as we possibly can with this surgery! Dr

Rutledge invented this wheel! I am just along for the ride! I am down 85 lbs

in 4 months since surgery, 108 lbs since I decided to have the MGB! Please

remember, I weighed 407 when I started this journey, I weighed 384 the day of

surgery, I had a BMI of 58 and I had an 8 ft bypass. I excersize everyday, I

had my first bloodwork done and all is well except, my thyroid number is

high (this ahs been a medicated condition for me for 14 years so it is no

surprise) and my protien was just a hair low! So every day I have to

concentrate,

protein, protein, protein!

Sorry this became such a long winded post, but, I just wanted to let the old

timers know, your input is greatly appreciated and to let the newbies know,

read your manual it is full of good and helpful info!

I am an old timer(dec 17, 2001 with Dr R) and you and a few others

always seem to have so much time on your hands to respond to people in a

negative way. I have only posted once in the last 2 years because of the so

called " straight forward " responses. Being an old timer doesn't give you the

right to be rude and condescending. And yes, you should move on with your

life, isn't that why you had the surgery in the first place. Since you are

so comfortable dishing it out I hope you read this and learn something from

an old timer.

Come on Guys. I joined this board recently because I am now almost 11 months

post-op and the pre-op board tends to be mostly about pre-op issues as it

should. I still read it regularly and I now feel comfortable enough to be a

contact. I feel that there is a lot of negativity on this board and it

disheartens me. I want to hear about your successes and YES your failures. We

are not perfect and we are all human beings. We are a special group and no one

else truly understands our experiences except us. I hope we can keep the board

supportive so we can be there for each other. And yes go on living, this has

been a gift for me with a weight loss of 111 lbs and I am enjoying every minute

of it. Just remember we have a responsibility to ourselves and each other. O.K

enough from me.
