Wow, Patty, thanks for the info on skin cancer and Imuran. I never knew

that. Now I have an excuse for my pasty skin when everyone else looks so

tanned and " healthy " !

Rosie, you probably have the answers to your questions by now as to what

differentiates AIH and AIC BUT! I have both, so if there is anything more

you would like to know, you can email me directly at

mailto:majuli@...

To Andi and " Steve and Pat Owens " - thanks for the list. I am particularly

excited to see azathioprine on the list. Doesn't that beat all - the damned

if you do damned if you don't situation.

Subject: Son 19 - seizures

Hi!

My son is 19 years old. He had his first seizure (clonic-tonic) on

December 20th. He said he had felt feverish all night long prior to

seizure at 11:00 a.m. Temp. was normal at E.R. Later, when we

returned home, his temp. went up to 104! Very scary. Thought we

were " done " a few days later when he was finally better.

He didn't have another seizure until July 5th. Late night party with

friends - he had some alcohol to drink.

Visit to the neuro - he felt that my son needed to " work really hard "

to have a seizure, so we decided against meds at the time.

August 15th-another seizure-day after a weekend on the lake with

friends. Lots of skiing, tubing, etc. Little alcohol the night

before.

August 22 (early this morning) another seizure. Had been getting to

bed at an appropritate hour all week. Absolutely NO ALCOHOL. Had

been taking vitamins, eating healthier, etc.

I'm a very scared mom. Hope to see the neuro tomorrow.

Do you think the fever caused the first seizure, or do you think that

he always had an underlying seizure disorder that the fever " brought

out? "

I'm so worried. I'm sure he'll be diagnosed with a seizure

disorder. I'm feeling very protective. Wouldn't mind a little

feedback, thoughts, advice, etc.

Thanks for listening.

..

..

>>> send a email to Dr Donna s at www.andrewsreiter.com she conquered

her seizures without pharmaceuticals.

Also see the list of books, links, docs and etc. that I posted earlier. In

the archives of this group.

Hi Gang!

Diane here I want to thank you all for your good wishes it's nice to know that there are good people out there that care about other people! Reassures the faith in people and all that.

Well, I am feeling much better and so far am happy that I did the surgery. The only little problem I had was I am more sensitive to the pain meds than I thought so I was kinda visiting the twilight zone for a while, but now I am doing fine. I don't have pain only in the incisions but I can handle that with some motrin. I do notice a change in my eating and I don't feel the heaviness and pressure that was there before. But my Doc wants to take it easy and told me no bread or salads for around 6 weeks or so.

Ginny,

I am so amazed at how you are doing, and am really happy your doing so well.

I have been just catching up on some of the posts and I don't remember the lady's name who is afraid of having a dilation done and just having botox all this time.

My 2 cents is that if it wasn't for the dilation's I had done before idon't know where I would be right now. Trust me I am a bit of a chicken as far as medical things on myself are. and this was not a big thing to go thru. I also had botox done with my first scope and it didn't last at all. in the past 4 years I had 2 dilation's. They lasted around 2 years each and only last week I had the surgery. So I would defiantly recommend the dilation.

Well, I see I have typed too long this was supposed to be a short note.

And I will post again soon.

Love, Diane

Hi, Group!

My name is and I have a 5 year old son with Autism. We live in

Mahoning County, in Youngstown.

I sent an e-mail earlier but for some reason I don't think it went

anywhere. In case it already posted, sorry for the repeat.

But I would like to ask a question. My son has an appointment with

Dr. DeMio in August (the soonest available). We have never been

to a DAN doctor. Does anyone have any advice or suggestions?

Thank you,

:)

Hi,

Has anyone used this therapy before with their children? Any

successes/experiences? This has been recommended to us by a speech pathologist

to pursue even before theTLP as we had a diff. birth with cord wrapping. Any

practitioner you can recommend, preferably one that could be covered

healthinsurance?

Thanks,

We tried cranial therapy, and I honestly feel that it's just one of

the so

called autism " cures " out there that really doesn't help. It's VERY expensive,

and I work in the health insurance field, and I don't know of any policies

that will cover it.

We tried it for over a year, and while it was not harmful to my son

at all,

and we liked the practioner, I just didn't see any benefits to it at all. Has

anyone had a more positive experience? We saw Paddy O'Flynn in Cleveland.

Hi ,

Noah has been doing Cranial for many years.

We go to Joann Granke who works at MetroHealth in the OT dept.

We have also gone to Paddy O'Flynn. Both practitioners are amazing yet

quite different.

I know that it is expensive, MetroHealth does take some insurance b/c it is

considered OT.

Call me if you want more info.

My feeling is if it is not invasive and outrageously expensive it is worth

trying even for a short period.

Your son may respond.

Take care,

Shari

Hi Shari,

Thanks for your input on this.

I agree, it is worth a try. Especially for a child that had a difficult birth

- mine. Whom will benefit depends on the individual child, as always...

Thanks,

Noah also had a very difficult(22 hour ) and stressful birth.

Let me know if you try it and how it goes.

Good Luck!
