I made a great fruit smoothie last night for a snack... 1 frozen banana 1 mango 1 cup of 1% milk a few ice cubes a few drops of stevia put in my vitamix and I was in the tropics. This got so thick and frothy it was like a milkshake. I'll try your combo next week Jenn. Sounds great with the oatmeal. Jenn, I'm not sure I understand why you're so adamant about eating oatmeal. I like your smoothie, but I wouldn't put either the oatmeal or the tofu in it. Or milk.

I'm just curious because you've mentioned specifically oatmeal several times now. Why do you think that's important?

sounds good Jen, but I would leave out the tofu and use rice or almond milk...

1/8 cup of oatmeal (uncooked) (rolled oats may be the correct term)

milk or milk substitute to make a blendable/drinkable consistency (could use juice if wanted, though, I used skim milk)

Hmm...I eat raw oatmeal every morning. I mix a bunch up with some Ezechiel cereal and put some of my homemade crockpot applesauce with raisins on it and then some soy or nut milk, mix the whole thing up and sprinkle it with cinnamon. I love it! I never tried the oatmeal in a smoothie.

The oatmeal is important because this smoothie is ALL I eat for the first 7-8 hours I am awake in the day, and the oatmeal makes it "last" or stay filling longer. If I don't add the oatmeal, I'm hungry 45 minutes later, and starving 2 hours later when it will still be a LONG time til my "lunch" break.

No health benefits or any reason like that, just to make it filling.

My stomach hurts just reading that!

Here's my favorite smoothie for the last couple of weeks...........

1/2 head romaine lettuce

1/2 pineapple

1 banana

2 cups water

Makes one quart.

Variations have been banana/mango, apple/banana, grapefruit, orange/pineapple, and pear/banana. They all have water and romaine lettuce though.
