Tammy, this might seem like a silly question, but did you explain

to your doctor the problems you had with side-effects when taking Atripla

previously? If so, why did he prescribe it again? There are, of course, many

other effective drug combinations out there that may work better for you

regarding side-effects. I don’t know that Atripla has changed that much,

if at all, since 2003, so the chances of you having those same issues is very

real and very likely. It seems to me that you are not a good candidate for

adherence to this drug, and other combinations should be explored.

Sorry, I think I misunderstood Tammy’s post. I thought she

was saying that she had taken Atripla before.

Tammy, another member put it well when they said that the drugs

are your friends, your allies, in this little war raging within our bodies. The

alternative – not taking our meds – is, ultimately, death, and that’s

a permanent and untreatable condition! I’ve taken Atripla before, and I

can share with you a couple of things that I learned. I decided to take my pill

in the evening before going to bed so that I could sleep through the worst of

the side-effects. I also found that eating a diet low in fat helped to curb

somewhat the severity of the side-effects, paying particular attention to dinner

and any foods eaten after dinner. I hope this helps a little, along with the

shared experiences from other members of the group. You can do it! And

remember, you’re not alone. We can get through this together.
