Three years ago today(7/10/00)I had the MGB. It has been a good

three years. I weighed approximately 333 the morning of surgery. I

currently weigh approximately 174. I had gotten down to about 166

very briefly. I would like to go back down there, but my body seems

to like the 170's. I had reconstructive surgery on Dec. 5. The MGB

was a piece of cake compared to the reconstructive surgery, but time

has a way of making you forget most of the pain. Are there any

other people out there from around the time I had surgery? I know I

am the ultimate lurker, but I am out here(haha). I am dating a guy

and I am hoping to get engaged in the next weeks. There is emphasis

on the hoping. It will happen he is just not working in my time

frame. Anyway, I thought I would update everyone.

Hi ,

Happy Birthday, you sound great, and I hope your boyfriend comes

through with the ring soon. Are you coming to the picnic this year.

I will always remember being in line with you aat the 2001 picnic

which Vinnie came with me to, then on the way home he died. Those

few days he was very happy to meet everyone and was so proud of me, I

usually do not talk much and would alway sky away from people, but he

made a coment that day,(look at my social butterfly now,

he couldn't get over how everyone came over to kiss me and say hello

from just on the computer, and everyone knew who I was. This Sept.

30 will be 2 years he is dead. It has been very hard for me. You

said you had reconstructive surgery, I too have had the arms and then

the breastlift, and I too said this was so much harder than the MGB,

but thank God they are over with, Nice to see you post. Keep in

touch. Hope you get to come to the picnic too.

Congrats ,

Hey, I'm 2 months from being 3 years post op and my Dad lives in

Cleburne - how cool! My Step Mother's Brother owns one of the

florist in Cleburne - s something or other :)

What re-constructive surgery did you have? What was hard, the actual

surgery or the recovery?

I've lost about 163 pounds and would love a breast and thigh lift but

I'm too chicken.

Glad you are doing well- Congrats!

Kate,

I had tummy tuck and breast lift. I had about ten pounds of skin,

tissue, and fat removed. My insurance paid for the stomach and not

the breasts. The breast cost approximately $4200. I believe if I

had to pay it all it would have been around $9200.

Rosemary,

Hi! I remember you and Vinny in line with me at the picnic in

2001. I see you in my mind's eye, but I know you look different

now. I doubt I will make the picnic. It is just not convenient to

a school teacher's schedule. It is also expensive to fly out. I

hope you are doing well.

Tuleta,

Hi!! 's Florist is just off the square here in town. I had

a tummy tuck and a breast lift. It was not all that bad in the

grand scheme of things, but it still was not comfortable. I had

approximatley 65 inches in incissions. I had surgery on a Thursday

and took my last pain medication on Sunday. I went to church that

Sunday, so I survived. It is just a long surgery. It is over 6

hours long and you loose alot of blood and fluids. I became anemic

for a while, but it was taken care of with iron supplements. Thanks

for writing.

I had a TT in OKC 12/16/2002 and it was $5,000 which seems to be the " going "

rate around here.

Congratulations to you both.

I have passed the three year post op mark. My life continues to be completly

transformed.

I do not diet ever, I am slim, feel attractive and content for the first time

in my 56 years.

I still weigh myself every morning - old habits die hard!

I could not be more grateful for the operation that Dr R and Dr P did in

April 2004.

For anyone thinking of this oprtation, it is the most liberating thing you

can do for yourself.

The constant round of dieting and over eating, the getting ready to go out,

and trying on all your clothes and still loathing yourself, the time you

catch yourself in the mirror, or the shop window and shrink from the

horrible sight you see, will be over FOR EVER.

I have such self esteem now, and this will not alter, and its the knowledge

that it will not change that is the most amazing feeling.

If I could do anything for Dr R and Dr P they would only have to ask.

PS Good luck with the Emmy nomination.

Joan
