I think I'm leaving this one for Donny boy... I'm not that familiar with TCM... and not understanding why the cleanse is too strong.. got to go read about the cleanse you got..... check out the cleanses in the files.. don't know why the juice cleanse is not good according to the practioner.. will be doing some reading.. But this interruption has caused me to question, really...which is best? Which advice or thoughts? I really want to lose weight, i am at the heaviest I've been. I want to conquer my fear/anxiety complex and I want to be healthier all around. I want to feel better, and to be able to keep up with my significant other who is extremely active.Does anyone have any thoughts on TCM versus Western

herbs? Also, does anyone have any ideas for me, because when I used to juice cleanse, I'd feel great. MY TCM practitioner advises me not to, but I wnt to. I also do not have a juicer at the current time, and wondered if anyone had any ideas on what to do that would help me get rid of unwanted gunk inside. I know I need to make a change, mentally, physically and emotionally. I feel like I used to know an awful lot and have just lost the knowledge in my jump this past summer.

Hi ,

Sounds like you are going through the authoritarian complex, you are not

the authority but your TCM would have you believe that she knows what is

best for you. This is the same tactic used by all in health care. To be

honest with you, you know what is best for you, much more so than anyone

else. If you feel better doing a juice cleanse then by all means do one.

Herbs are like medications, they only deal with symptoms. You need to

find the cause and address that. Yes herbs can be helpful in some

instances as can some medications but there is always a price to be

paid. You can do any and all with just the foods you choose to eat.

I would suggest you slow down on grains, they are very hard on the

digestive system. Much more fresh raw living fruits and green leafy

vegetables. If you need some cooked then lightly steam them. If you feel

you need some grains then go with grains that are less likely to cause

problems (quinoa, barley, wild rice, amaranth, buckwheat).

Go with a good juice cleanse. Do lots of blended salads too (this keeps

the fiber in there that your body definitely needs). If you know someone

who does supervised fasting then go and visit them and do a supervised

fast. The weight will come off on its own when you change your outlook

and habits. Keep positive thoughts and strive to maintain optimistic at

all times. Try and learn your triggers that put you into eating mode. We

humans eat way more than we need or our body can use at any time.

Contrary to our way of thinking and belief systems our body's needs

really are very small. Meditate more, exercise more. Get out and away

more. We tend to eat more when we are at home than when we are out

somewhere. However, when we are out somewhere we tend to indulge more in

junk so it is best to take along the fruit, carrot and celery sticks etc.

Do make sure you are drinking plenty of water. You still know all you

knew before and even more. Walking for an hour every day and eating lots

of raw food will go much further in helping you eliminate the gunk. Also

drinking lots of green juices or green smoothies will help too. If you

don't have a juicer than blend it and drink it. Just add more water to

make it a little thinner, this way you don't waste all that good fiber.

Yes Suzi, it is the herbal d-tox kit.

She said the herbs were too strong for someone with my " condition " (

I think that she said I have a yang defficiency?) I know it's her

Chinese Medicine thoughts, but just wondered if anyone had any other

thoughts.

I'd love to do another juice cleanse, but do not have the resources

to aquire a juicer currently. Just slightly frustrated.

Don,

Thanks for your wonderful response.

It is sometimes hard to go against what the practitioner says,

especially when you WORK with her day in and day out, you know? I

have been craving fresh fruits, pears, apples and strawberries.

There are so many markets here, where I can get all that on a daily

basis, really inexpensively. She told me that fruit would not be

good for me either, right now. (I believe that she said my

headaches, lethargy and anxiety are all signs of dampness? ) But Ive

been craving them and figured, if I would rather eat a pear than a

peice of chocolate, then damnit, I'm doing it. You know? She also

told me that I couldn't eat anything raw. Will going back for the

last 7 days of the herbal d-tox do me any good? or would it be better

to just stay off of it?

I am currently also getting massage and chiropractic which I think

will help with my body detoxing, alongside of eating more healthy. I

DO feel a difference in my body, and my outlook after I've had

acupuncture or a specific massage treatment. I just wanted to help

that along with better habits at home.

It's also cold and rainy here, so warm food is what I crave. Warm

food like soups, and I've been craving fish like there is no

tomorrow. It is widely available here in vancouver, extremely fresh

and wild caught. Salmon especially.

Anyway, I am rambling here. Blending fruits is good as well? I do

not have a blender currently, or a juicer, but would like to get

SOMETHING. Unfortunately, a blender is much more cost effective at

this point. I am just wondering what I could do to sort of reset

myself, as I used to do this, and come out feeling great with a 3-day

juice cleanse.
