Guest guest
A major virus has been detected that has the potential to greatly affect our networks. W32/Nimda-A is a virus which spreads via email and accessing websites. Do not open any emails from staff or friends which has an attached file called README.EXE. Delete immediately, unopened. Please make sure you have th latest downloads for your virus scan software The problem has been caused by the " nimda " (actual file name w32.nimda.a@mm) virus you have probably heard about on the news. This virus has infected servers across the state and country. The virus basically creates an enormous amount of unnecessary web traffic which overloads the equipment that handles that traffic. ITS in Raleigh, our district Internet Service Provider, has told us that this overload yesterday caused them to shut their service down while they attempted to " fix " the problem. I m not an expert I dont mind helping out when I can but I m a bit overloaded right now......... Lori
