It is perfectly legal for the schools to bill MA for therapies- but you do

have the right to decline this- You have to be careful- If MA says that you

can only have a set amount of therapy services per year (maybe 20 speech

sessions) and they use them for school, then you will not be able to access

them as private therapies. If this is not an issue for you- I'd sign it.

Districts don't get anywhere close the the reimbursements they should for

special ed. You can also use it as an incentive for them to provide adequate

therapy services (if they are billing MA for it, they better well provide it!)

My .02 worth-

receives OT and speech, but why all of a sudden would money be made

available to the school through 's MA? That's the part I don't get.

They are two separate entities.

HELP!!! Where do I begin? I am totally exhausted and would like to run away!

IT sounds like M is totally sensorily overwhelmed,, start with an OT~~occupational therapist. They can evaluate and help you with being able to recogonize what he is seeking out. Send the Special Ed Director for your county a written request for a formal occupational, speech, autism spectrum evaluation of M. Send a copy to your school's counselor/psychologist, principal and teachers. Make sure they respond within 10 days. Remember, the school system are not medical professionals,, they are educational professionals and you need to have a private evaluation done by a developmental pediatrician or a psychologist that specializes in childrens disabilities. Call your local social security office and see if you can qualify for medicaid,, most practicioners take that.

Punishment is not going to help the behaviors ~~that is only going to frustrate him because of actions he cannot control, nor understand and make you feel even worse as a parent because you arent helping to make it any better.

I can relate to what you are going thru, because I too have been there. In time it will get better if you take the time to educate yourself and your family and allow yourself a reprieve by knowing that M cannot help himself right now by his responses to the stimuli that he is encountering everywhere that is causing him to exhibit these unusual behaviors.

Take time to give yourself a mental break especially since you have a spouse that is overwhelmed as well,,, hang in there!!

I have a question for all of you, I had someone in another state offer to

sell my products.

I am not sure if I want to do this since I won't be able to oversee any of

it. I'm in WA state and she is in Ohio.

Any suggestions?

Gonna talk to DH as well but thought I would ask you ladies as well.

Hi :

I too have seem patients struggling with weight regain, and have been amazed when they have described the amount of food they can put into this stomach which is allegedly just 2 oz. The problem brings about for me something I have found works well in people who can eat a lot of food postop -- and things to stress to prevent these failures of the surgical intervention --

The mechanics of the pouch -

eating slowly

not drinking with meals

chewing food well

learning to stop when comfortable, not full

no bubbles in drinks

eating dense, solid foods - having them be the basis of the meal.

eating protein, produce, whole grains first

My experience has been when I have seen weight regain, the patients are not doing several of these things correctly. So, as the food coaches, it is so important to stress these items. They seem so simple perhaps to many of us, but to lifetime dieters and over-eaters, they are very difficult concepts.

I have had good success with many patients being able to re-lose weight by stressing these concepts, and getting them back to correct way to eat to stay full.
