Guest guest
Today I made some "applesauce" in my crock pot. About 4 organic apples (chopped up), an organic pear, some cinnamon, some allspice and a little water, all slow cooked on "low" for 6 hours. I then threw in some organic raisins at the end while it was still hot. This stuff is FANTASTIC!!!! And it smells as good as it tastes. I usually eat this same concoction raw a few times a week by throwing the whole thing in a food processor (except the raisins), but it's really a nice change of pace to have it cooked with the spices all blending in with the fruit. Guest guest
That sounds fantastic! I haven't made any applesauce in years! I'm getting my crockpot out right now! It also sounds good in the raw state. In the raw state, I just shred an apple and a pear in the food processor, then add some cinnamon and raisins and sometimes a little vanilla soy or almond milk. But this kind I made in the crock pot is awesome! The fruit got real soft from cooking it 6 hrs. but there are still big chunks left. I didn't peel anything...just cored the 3-4 apples and cut that up with a pear and threw it all in with the spices and 1/4 cup of water. I can't stop eating it!! Guest guest
I have a couple of friends (really I do!!) that are into all organic, healthy stuff. What a bunch of nuts! Anyway, whenever they go into the co-op the next town over, I tag along. On our trip today, I mentioned this applesauce method, and they can't wait to try it. Neither can I!!! Peace, love, laughter “I bought a dog the other day...I named him Stay. It's fun to call him...'Come here, Stay! Come here, Stay!' He went insane. Now he just ignores me and keeps typing.
