Guest guest
, thanks for the link. Interesting point: the calcium milligrams went up after boiling some Foods. I always thought you lost a lot of nutrients in boiling, but apparently that is not always the case. I wonder why? Foggs
Guest guest
Wow! I found that to be very interesting. I have given up all dairy products and didn't really worry about calcium as I was eating tons of greens. After looking at that table I am going to add some different things to my diet. Agar seems the best way to go. What the heck is agar anyway? hmm.. I hope it is good tasting as I need to eat two servings to get all the calcium I need. Good health.. You know I had no idea what Agar was, but thought it might be some kind of grain. Guess I was wrong, yummy, seaweed:) Anybody tried the stuff? I'm not very picky about what I eat though and like most foods. If you aren't a vegetarian, sardines are a good source of Calcium. I'm not promoting WholePeople, but that was the only information I could find on Agar, sorry if that bothered anyone or I broke any rules. Guest guest
Actually, agar is what bacteria are cultured in. It's a good source of nutrients---even microbiologists know this. :-) Dr. At 10:55 AM 4/22/00 -0700, you wrote: Wow! I found that to be very interesting. Guest guest
Actually, you need a lot more calcium when you eat lots of protein (ie, meat and dairy products) or have a high phosphorus intake (ie, soda pop). But, if you strive for 1000 mg, your body will eliminate what it doesn't need. Just get your calcium intake from foods...not cheap calcium carbonate (oyster shell)supplements like Tums and your generic sources. I'm not saying there isn't good supplemental sources of calcium, just that the majority of people are getting their supplements from calcium carbonate and it is doing them little good. Guest guest
I read something recently about this, but can't seem to find it off-hand. As I remember, the boiling process releases the nutrients from chemical bonds making them more absorbable and possibly more bioavailable. DR. Guest guest
Just an added note to Dr. Sooley's, the FDA has actually warned against the use of oyster shell supps due to contamination. Also, the amount of calcium stated on the package may not be elemental, that is, what your body will absorb. laura At 10:03 AM 4/24/00 -0500, you wrote: >Actually, you need a lot more calcium when you eat lots of protein (ie, >meat and dairy products) or have a high phosphorus intake (ie, soda >pop). Guest guest
Bruce, I've been reading all of your notes. I want to share this with you. The fact is that all cancer patients are deficient in calcium and magnesium and our bodies are craving these minerals. I've been doing a comprehensive program that includes very serious doses of both calcium and magnesium. The source of the products is very reliable and they are clean. When I was told that the metal in the mouth would create an absorbtion problem, I was skeptical. After two weeks I was tested with the synchrometer which showed great improvement but no calcium and magnesium in the saliva. I was stunned. Metal in the mouth?. At the same time I received, from Ecuador, my DNA blood test results. The reports showed pretty much the same problems, poor thymus function and poor absorbtion of calcium. In my " desk " book, Dr.'s book " The Cure for All Advanced Cancers " , I found that the metal in the mouth blocks thyroid function and no matter how much calcium and magnesium you are taking it DOESN'T GET TO THE RIGHT PLACE. Guest guest
Not sure I buy that completely. There are too many studies out there that show when calcium is taken with mag and vit D, that absorption does take place and goes where the body uses it. The issues come with calcium when taken by itself that it goes places not wanted or needed, if absorbed at all. Blend until all is liquified. You can strain or not. Shari
