Sue, i read ur battle with protein........i have too spent a fortune and i

cant take the protein shakes etc or powders....and i dont eat MEAT at all......

my solution to that was shrimp......

a medium shrimp has bout 2g of protein........yes it has cholesterol but

since im not eatin any meat and the cholesterol i was told is good

cholesterol.........but since im not eating any meat or anything else with

cholesterol in it it is not an issue for me my cholesterol has went from

286 to 166

13 shrimp = 29 g of protein= 130 calories ........

i buy mine from walmart (super) shrimp cocktail with nothin but cocktail

sauce and that calorie count is for 2 tablespoons of coctail sauce also in

which i dont use that much........

try it if u like the taste of shrimp

Kathy and Sue,

Designer Protein puts out a whey protein bar, I havent tasted it yet but it

contains 20gm of protein. The Desiger Protein is not bad and is the one that DR.

R. recommended. Just my two cents.

Thanks for the shrimp suggestion. I like shrimp and I'll try it. It would be

easy enough to " snack " on at my desk. I also enjoy crab salad. A local

grocery store chain (Lowes) makes a good one that I love on crackers.

Glad to know I'm not the only one not doing the protein shakes.

Thanks for the info on Designer Protein bars. Where do you get them? I'm

willing to try anything - at least once.

You have to watch the sugar content in those bars. Some are loaded, like 20-30

grams, and others have only 2-3. I have tried dozens of them and have finally

found one that I like pretty well, comparatively speaking. It is by EAS:

Advant:Edge Carb Control Nutrition bar. It has 24 grams of protein, and only

2.5 grams of carbs. I like the Blueberry and the Lemon Cheesecake flavors. I

don't care for any of the fake chocolate things. 200 calories, 45 of which come

from fat. I believe that I have found them at our WalMart, but I usually get

them at Smoothie World that sells all kinds of supplements. They also make

wonderful smoothies with 44 grams of protein. My grandchildren love for me to

take them there--better than any of the ice cream places!!
