Guest guest
Bankie and Jenn have it right. You can never go back to your old ways of eating. There are ways to out eat our little pouch. My sister-in-law's sister (easy for me to say) had an RNY 6 weeks after my MGB. She drinks milkshakes despite the dumping, etc and has regained over 60 pounds. I tell folks how I spent 18 months in therapy BEFORE the MGB dealing with food issues and I am still dealing with them. Life keeps throwing us curves, as life does, and we cannot turn to food as we once did as a coping mechanism. Now if I could only get into exercise (LOL) -- still working on that one. You have to change everything forever if you're to be successful with the weight loss. I suggest to anyone to seek help if you need to deal with emotional issues that lead to counterproductive eating habits. The MGB is a tool, as Bankie said. I tell that to the pre- ops who contact me. What I want for my life is a normal relationship with food and healthy emotions and coping strategies. That's my 2 cents worth. I have maintained my weight loss for almost 2 years now...they say if you make it to 5 years, you have a 95% chance of keeping it off. -Ginny Ivanoff
