Guest guest
I have not done a formal update in a while, and with so many new post ops I thought I would.... everybody try not to nod off, ok? November 16 2000 was the day that I danced with the doc. I was the calmest person alive that morning because in my heart I knew I was doing what I was meant to do. My surgery took 28 minutes and there were no surprises or complications. Doc told hubby my " innerds " were just gorgeous! Next day.... a trip to the drug store for Neosporin and a stop at Chick-Fil-A for a bowl of soup. A nice lazy day. The next day it was ON! We did marathon Christmas shopping and hit every Mall and Motorcycle Shop in the area. The same for all the days thereafter until we left Durham sans 11 pounds. The rest is history. It took me 8 months to lose 100 pounds and I really have not lost since. I have no diabetes now, either. The day of surgery, my feet were numb and I was sick from the disease....they shot me with insulin in the hospital and that was the last diabetes medication I ever had. Today I show no signs of diabetes at all and I feel great. My highest weight was 279. At the time of surgery I had lost to 248. Today I weigh 135 (plus or minus 4 pounds depending on the time of month) I am 5'4 " tall. I went from a size 28 to a size 8-10. occasionally i will need a 12 in a dress or dress pants. stretchy pants and bathing suits etc are usually 6-8. Small or medium tops. My life is better. I know my family so much better than when I was too obese to get out and participate in life WITH them. I am no longer on the sidelines- I am in the game! My son and I went Rock Climbing (he is 20) and my daughter and I like to take my grandson to the park. Grammy is great on the big slide and the swings! I can go to a movie and not get bruises on my hips from squeezing into the seats. This summer my friend (who, by the way, is a SAINT and a major support--thanks ) is taking me to a Jimmy Buffet concert. I cannot WAIT!! Between now and then I am having a tummy tuck and a breast lift. Like I said, Life is GOOD!! Thanks Dr. R.-- You are a skilled surgeon and I am glad I had the MGB. Everyone be well. xxoxoo S in VA
