, Did your friend have a fasting Cholesterol done? Sometimes, unless

they are done fasting they can be incorrect. What you eat even the night

before can alter the values. They always used to test my kids after I would

cook them bacan, eggs, toast and butter for breakfast, and then tell me they

had elevated cholesterol. I really don't know what effect menopause has on

cholesterol. By the way I haven't lost an thing in a month, I'm still

walking every day. I may be done.

I don't know but I'll ask her --- I can only assume it was fasting since

it was for a " physical " and they usually tell you not to eat. All of

her other lab values (blood sugar, etc.) were fine.

Will you be really unhappy if you are done? You look great! You know I

am in a really strange cycle of losing - I only lose the week of or

after my period and then I will go up and down a pound or so the rest of

the month with the only net loss being that one week. Try not to get

discouraged!

Want to try to get together before the picnic or just wait until

after????

A question.....

Hi guys,

I know there are a lot of really smart people on this list, several in

the medical profession in one way or another, and therefore I have a

question.

I have a friend who is overweight, about 50, is hypertensive,

perimenopausal or menopausal and has otherwise been in pretty good

shape. Her cholesterol has always been normal. She is a fellow Weight

Watchers member and is following the program, losing weight slowly, and

has greatly changed her eating habits with regards to meat, fats, etc.

She just had a physical and everything was fine except her cholesterol

level went up 60 points. Does any one know of any correlation between

menopause and increased cholesterol levels. Anyinformation would be

appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Taking estrogen lowers cholesterol usually according to my doctor, so a

reduction during menopause probably would do the opposite I would think.

She just had a physical and everything was fine except her cholesterol

menopause and increased cholesterol levels. Anyinformation would be

appreciated. Thanks in advance.

  • 3 months later...

It's the caffeine, , that has you jittery. And maybe just a touch of

guilt. But not to worry. You're doing fine. Glad your headache is gone.

The ban on aspirin and tylenol is valid, but once every 14 months. . .no

sweat! PhillyJude MGB 11-3-00

OK – I did something earlier I am not “supposed” to do because I was

desperate. I had a bear of a headache and don’t have any of my

prescription medication so I resorted to two Extra Strength Excedrin

(first time in 14 months). They have aspirin, acetaminophen as well as

caffeine in them. I now feel like I could jump out of my skin – the

caffeine maybe???? The good news is my headache is gone. I would

however like to know why the “jitters”. Any ideas anyone????

That's what I figured. Bet if I succumb again I will only take one! I

also just called my GYN to get a refill on my pain meds! Thanks

Margaret.

Re: A question.....

I'm pretty sure it is the caffeine. Excedrin has

prety much caffeine, especially since we aren't used

to it anymore.

Glad your headache is gone!! <G>

It makes you feel like those over the counter diet pills though!

Re: A question.....

: Glad you are feeling better. I bet you got all your shopping,

baking, decorating done in just a few hours. lol. Maybe we should all

take

a few excedrin.
